How timely. Oklahoma voters overwhelmingly passed a constitutional amendment banning foreign and sharia law from state courts last November! Will Mattson try to set some of us straight? It seems so, except there's are a few things to know about her and ISNA that were totally ignored by the local liberal paper.
The Islamic Society of North America was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest Hamas terror-funding case in U.S. history! Being ID'd as one of the Muslim Brotherhood's organization set up to destroy our democracy for Islamic supremacy was, no doubt, one of the reasons. Take a minute to read their plans (U.S.District Ct), if you haven't yet. These organizations were set up and operational for a number of years before they were discovered in 2004 by the FBI. Let's recall, too, that Hamas is a creation of the Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine whose written mission is to destroy Israel for Islamic supremacy. Both plans are about Islamic supremacy, aren't they now? Recall, Palestine was the name of a territory under the control of the Islamic supremacist Ottoman Empire that lasted for centuries. Islamists want that area back because they wrongly believe it belongs to them for Islam.
It's troubling a local church, perhaps well-intentioned, would host such a talk considering ISNA's history and the number of controversial statements Mattson has made. For example, in October 2001. Mattson participated in a chat room Q&A hosted by CNN. She said that a larger number of Muslims shared the grievances that Bin Laden had voiced but only a small number with his tactics. She claimed ‘Wahhabism’ was a reform movement that was analogous to the European protestant reformation. Now that's troubling. She was asked about the end of the Islamic supremacist caliphates that Bin Laden claimed caused Muslims to have lived in humiliation for the last 80 years. (i.e., after the Treaty of Sevres in 1920 that dismantled caliphates and sultanates). Mattson replied that the overthrow of the caliphate has deprived the Muslim world of a stable and centralized authority, and much of the chaos that we're living in today is the result of that. She claimed the decline of the Muslim world was the fault of colonization of the Muslim world by European powers!
Am I wrong to think she actually supports Islamic supremacy rule or a central/globally run religion authority? Am I wrong to think this is a big problem for free societies?
Mattson, unbelievably, said in a speech that right-wing Christians really didn't like Jews and they, the Jews, should be leary of them back in 2007. Wow, now that was nasty. Is there really a definitive definition of a right-wing Christian or is it just another emotional charged phrase created by Islamists and/or their partners on the left to belittle Christians and others? Name calling is their preferred way to handle critics, right?
Mattson wrote from a book written by her peers at the Islamic study center where she is director (8th paragraph) that religious solidarity is above citizenship! This was posted at the Ducan Black Macdonald Islamic Center located at the Hartford Seminary, a theological college where she and others teaches young minds.
"...If Muslim Americans are to participate in such a critique of American policy, however, they will only be effective if they do it, according to the Prophet's words, in a "brotherly" fashion. This implies a high degree of loyalty and affection. This does not mean, however, that citizenship and religious community are identical commitments, nor that they demand the same kind of loyalty. People of faith have a certain kind of solidarity with others of their faith community that transcends the basic rights and duties of citizenship..."
She also wrote (5th paragraph) from that book "The American government has not criticized sufficiently the brutality of the Israeli government, believing that it needs to be “supportive” of the Jewish state," which is so typically the anti-israel views expressed by many Muslims which totally ignores the many attacks and the stated goals of Hamas and the bigger role of the Muslim Brotherhood!
Mattson's teachings even include the writing of Sayyid Qutb and Syed Mawdudi (read his Jihad in Islam). Both of these men are extremely well-known Islamic supremacists who set the stage that advanced the radical Islamist movement of today.
And, get this, Hartford Seminary's Macdonald Center "Information About Islam" page states:
"...The caliphate, however, is by no means forgotten. Osama bin Laden, for one, has called repeatedly for its restoration. In this he is joined by many other voices of the Muslim world who share nothing else of bin Laden’s own vision for Islam...
And later on in their jihad section:
...This does not mean that war is not permitted in Islam. In fact, war is obligatory in Islam in certain circumstances. Islam is not a pacifist religion..."
Seriously, have those organizations set up by the Muslim Brotherhood evolved away from their original purpose? That, my friends, is a highly important question that requires all of us to pay better attention. Do these groups try to steer us against the FBI and other anti-terrorism efforts? Do they try to claim they are the victims of a repressive U.S. government? Do they try to convince us Israel and the U.S. are the real problem? Do they say that Islam is only about peace and shut down questions about Islamic supremacy or ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and other such organizations? Do they call critics liars, bigots and Islamophobics? Do they often partner with other unindicted co-conspirators, like CAIR, and those on the far-left? Do their words and actions over time appear anti-American when you remove their fluffy outreach? The only way to know is to study them over time.
ISNA's national fatwa council issued a major sharia ruling a year ago that body scanners was un-Islamic for Muslims to go through at airports. That's sharia, folks and it went un-challenged by our government. Is that part of religious freedom? Aren't they already trying to play by their own rules here?
"Thus, it is not permitted for a Muslim to maintain a close friendship with a highly intelligent person who engages him or her in stimulating conversation, if that person continuously derides the sacred (Qur’an 5:57-58). Indeed, since preserving faith is the highest priority, it is important that Muslims avoid demoralizing dependence on other faith communities for their protection and material needs.
Are we seriously to believe what Ingrid Mattson tells us ignorant Okies about sharia law?
