CAIR Oklahoma sponsorship of a so-called "peace rally" in January 2009 bothers me a lot and now, before their annual banquet in March which features an anti-Israeli speaker, it's a good time to revisit it. I believe when you look at the visuals of the rally, the statements made by Razi Hashmi, the director of the Oklahoma chapter of CAIR, an organization ID'd as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror funding trial, the rally was, in part, a front for supporting Hamas.
First, take a look at the screen shot above of a video taken by Muskogee Political. See the strong anti-Israel messages? Most Oklahomans are Christians and our allegiance to Israel is deep within our Biblical text and is unbreakable. So, to deliberately offend the majority of Oklahomans was foolish to do.
In two NewsOK articles about the rally, the allegiance to the "Hamas rulers" seemed unmistakable. On January 5, 2009, the day of the rally reporter, Michael McNutt wrote, Oklahoma protesters call for end to fighting in Gaza:
More than 200 people, most of them Islamic- Americans, demonstrated peacefully today outside the state Capitol asking state and national leaders to press Israel for a cease-fire against the Gaza Strip's Hamas rulers...
The next day, McNutt wrote another article titled Group protests Gaza unrest at Oklahoma state Capitol. This time, he wrote what Razi Hashmi said:
America should take immediate steps to end Israel’s "illegal and immoral” offensive against the Gaza Strip’s Hamas rulers, the executive director of the Oklahoma City chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said Monday.
No mention was made by Hashmi that Israel was defending itself against Hamas rockets and live to this day in fear of rocket attacks by a group that has vowed their destruction which they have in writing in their Hamas Charter.
You can watch the videos of the protest again here and here (taken by Muskogee Political). Only one sign at the rally was removed and that was the one of the swastika over the Israeli symbol but the man carrying that sign can been seen leading the chant in the 2nd video (midway through) without the sign. This photo was taken by Okie Campaign. No other anti-Israel signs were removed.
During this time, Hashmi had the gall to put words in our mouths by claiming he thought Oklahomans are concerned about our support of Israel, which is simply inaccurate:
Hashmi, an Edmond resident, said the U.S. government has not made it a secret that they support Israel. He said he thinks Oklahomans are concerned that taxpayers’ money is helping fund weapons for Israel, which are being used to attack the Gaza Strip...
When U.S. Rep. Mary Fallen spoke out against Hamas, a designated foreign terrorist organization. Hashmi said she should be neutral. Let's just remember the Gaza Strip was violently over-thrown by Hamas in 2007 and embedded themselves among the civilians. Any retaliation against Hamas would, by default, involve civilians but that doesn't seem to bother Razi Hashmi, in the least.
CAIR, is an outgrowth of the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas infrastructure in America. The Muslim Brotherhood is a religious supremacist global organization whose branch in Palestine started Hamas with the express goal to destroy Israel for Islam. It's important to remind everyone that Palestine was a territory of the Islamic Ottoman hegemony. Now, Islamists want Israel under the control of the Islamic world as it was under the Ottoman caliphate and is part of their goals to create a new caliphate.
Lastly, Palestine has been offered statehood twice. First, it was proposed in the U.N. Partition Plan in Resolution 181 on November 29, 1947. Israel accepted it and the Arab world did not. Then, a United Nation General Assembly resolution was adopted "acknowledging the proclamation of the State of Palestine by the Palestine National Council on the 15th of November 1988.
But most people don't know these facts. Furthermore, the two governments within Palestine don't even get along.
