The Council of American Islamic Relations has a goal to get their name removed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Trial. First, they petitioned the court but no ruling's been forthcoming. Now, in their latest maneuver, CAIR has sought support from the powerful Democratic Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee whose district is the home to the largest Muslim community in America!
CAIR's history is tied directly to the Muslim Brotherhood and it offspring, Hamas, and their community of Islam. Two of CAIR's top officials were caught on FBI wire-taps setting up or attending a meeting with Hamas operatives in the U.S. in the 90's. CAIR isn't denying this relationship because they can't. CAIR is likely an operative of the Muslim Brotherhood but will fight tooth and nail to be identified as such, even if it is the truth.
I suspect their ties to these groups continues even if it has to be several layers away now with all the scrutiny on them. CAIR's press releases are often carried on Islamonline, a Middle East Islamic website, which could be a clue.
zTruth has done a number of posts on CAIR for your reference and the Muslim Brotherhood whose chief, Mahdi Akif, (MUHAMMAD MAHDI AKIF, General Guide of the Ikhwan al-Muslimeen) recently said:
"...there is nothing called Al Qaeda, the Americans have goals (implementing them) under the threats of Al Qaeda, "bin Laden", which are all false."
This national Islamic organization seems hypocritical at best. For example, if you criticize Islam, you could be the target of one of CAIR's "Action Alerts". CAIR won't hesitate to call you a bigot or an Islamophobic in their alerts which are designed to shut you down or destroy your career if you are a public personality by getting advertisers to pull their ads.
I suspect they will also someday try to influence Democratic legislators to make it a hate crime to criticize Islam. Will they succeed? Eventually they might, if Americans aren't jarred into reality and our society demands the stop to this anti-West movement.
This latest move by CAIR should raise a big red flag to every American. This is just the beginning.
"The Council on American-Islamic Relations is seeking help from House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. to pressure the Justice Department to change the group's status as a co-conspirator in a terrorism case.
CAIR officials recently met with Mr. Conyers, Michigan Democrat, and then wrote a letter asking him to lobby the new attorney general on behalf of the group, and to hold hearings.
CAIR is among several hundred Muslim groups listed as unindicted co-conspirators in a recent federal terrorism trial in Dallas into activities by the Holy Land Foundation Inc., a group linked to funding the Palestinian Hamas terrorist group. The trial recently ended in a mistrial and prosecutors have said they plan to re-try the case.
Despite its uncertain outcome, the trial has produced a large amount of information and evidence identifying U.S. and foreign groups sympathetic to or direct supporters of international Islamist terrorists.
A 1991 internal memorandum from the radical Muslim Brotherhood identified 29 front groups, including the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), that are part of a covert program by the Brotherhood in the United States to subvert American society.
CAIR officials have requested that Mr. Conyers ask the Justice Department to explain why it publicly identified the 306 co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation trial.
---CAIR's letter to Mr. Conyers said that "you remember many of these abusive practices from the McCarthy era and the civil rights movement."
Steven Emerson, executive director of the Investigative Project on Terrorism, said the secret collaboration between CAIR and Mr. Conyers raises concerns over the lawmaker's support for "a group unambiguously proven to be part of the Muslim Brotherhood-Hamas infrastructure."
"This combination demonstrates the degree to which radical Islamic groups have insinuated themselves into the highest reaches of the U.S. government by using deceit," he said."
