A pilot of a Piper Aztec lands his plane 3/4 the way down the runway in St. Barths. The runway is tricky because it's situated in front of a hill.
Look at the water - its gorgeous!. Too bad the pilot didn't get to enjoy it.

The following is a press release that you might find interesting. I don't know anything about this case but it appears disturbing on the surface.
WASHINGTON, May 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --
"...Today the Obama Administration filed in the Supreme Court a document that expressed the Administration's decision to stand with a group of Saudi princes and against the right of American citizens -- 9/11 family members -- to have our day in court. Let there be no doubt: The filing was political in nature and stands as a betrayal of everyone who lost a loved one or was injured on September 11, 2001. "...The Administration's filing mocks our system of justice and strikes a blow against the public's right to know the facts about who financed and supported the murder of 3,000 innocent people. It undermines our fight against terrorism and suggests a green light to terrorist sympathizers the world over that they can send money to al Qaeda without having to worry that they will be held accountable in the U.S. Courts for the atrocities that result.
...The Administration's filing is all the more troubling in that it expressly acknowledges that the courts below applied incorrect legal standards in dismissing the Saudi defendants, but nonetheless argues that the case -- one that seeks to account for the terrorist attacks against America and the murder of our family members -- does not warrant the Supreme Court's time..."

Marjan Seirafi-Pour, the chair of the controversial Oklahoma Governors Ethnic American Advisory Council. has been appointed to a three year term on the Oklahoma State Textbook Committee by Governor Brad Henry. This committee has a major role in selecting what textbooks our children study in school.
This appointment was not announced in any local newspapers that I could find. But it was featured in the National Iranian American Council:
"...Her involvement began after her youngest daughter came home from school asking why, an old video her teacher showed in class differed so greatly from the Iran she traveled to. The video, with images of goat herders and dirt roads, is obviously a narrow view of a country that also boasts skyscrapers and marble condominiums. This lack of accurate representation in American schools was disturbing to Seirafi-Pour. She began her journey to update the school’s media by speaking to teachers, then principles, and eventually to the Governor of Oklahoma.
Oklahoma's Governor, Brad Henry, seized upon Mrs. Seirafi-Pour’s passion for improving the value of student education and knowledge of Iranian culture by nominating her to the Oklahoma Textbook Committee. She advised other Iranian-American parents to be persistent and to “not get angry when you see wrong information.” Mrs. Seirafi-Pour emphasized that it is very important to talk to the school officials and teachers to express whatever concerns one has. With “persistent communication, eventually you will be able to make changes...”

President Obama's Justice Department has dropped charges of voter intimidation by uniformed Black Panther members in Philadelphia who were positioned in front of a polling place on November 4, 2008. One had a baton stick that is considered a weapon.
After the charges were dropped one of the Panther's leaders blamed the Bush Administration for the charges, according to CNN:
"The Justice Department is dropping charges against the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense and two of its members who were allegedly involved in voter intimidation on Election Day at a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania polling station.
A Justice spokesman said the department decided to take this action after winning an injunction earlier this month against a third member, Samir Shabazz, that prevents him from ever brandishing a weapon outside a polling place again as he was charged with doing last November.
Shabazz was one of the three persons, along with the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, charged with voter intimidation last January in a lawsuit filed under the Voting Rights Act. Shabazz will not face any jail time or a fine.
..."We want to thank President Obama and his administration for dropping charges against us that were vindictively brought by the Bush administration," Malik Shabaaz told CNN. "We don't condone any type of illegal activity at polling stations..."
Be sure to check out their website which has "freedom or death" as their tag-line.
Also note that Dr. Khalid Al-Mansour spoke at the 2009 National Black Power Conference this month. Dr. Al-Mansour is an Islamist who allegedly sought help to get Barack Obama into Harvard Law School.
It appears there is a link to the Panthers and Islam.

The Imam of the Islamic Daw'ah Institute in St. Paul, Hassan Mohamud, posted a video on YouTube that referred to the hell of living in America (it has now been removed). But the video news report from Fox 9 in Minneapolis below gives a good overview about the controversy, including a short video clip of what he said.
This appears to be the same Somalian community in Minnesota that has been in the news lately because a number of young Muslim men have left the area and are believed to have gone to fight the jihad battle in Somalia. One young man has already martyred himself and is buried in Minnesota. He is believed to be the first American martyr for Islam.
The leader of a Somalian Advocacy group, Omar Jamal, recently spoke at the National Press Club in Washington where he blamed America for the problem in Somalia.
Islamists and the left always seem to blame America first.

An interesting lawsuit was filed in Michigan late last year that questions the legality of bailout money used by AIG to help fund Sharia-compliant insurance policies. A U.S. District judge ruled this week the suit can go forward:
"..."The U.S. District Court hearing a challenge by a Michigan man against the federal government for bailing out insurance giant AIG because the company sells Shariah-compliant insurance policies to Muslims in the U.S. and abroad has denied a motion to dismiss (PDF) the suit and allowed the case to move forward.
The case, Murray v Geithner, was filed last December by the Michigan-based Thomas More Law Center, founded by Domino’s creator Tom Monaghan. The TMLC calls itself the “sword and shield for people of faith,” but in this case, the group argues that because the U.S. government now owns a substantial piece of AIG after the bailout, the fact that the company markets products to Muslims that comply with their faith makes the bailout unconstitutional.
The complaint filed in the case argues that the funds given to AIG by the federal government as part of the financial bailout “are being used to finance Shariah-based Islamic religious activities in violation of the Establishment Clause.” The government immediately moved to dismiss the case, arguing that the plaintiff lacks standing to bring the suit. They base this on a series of Supreme Court rulings limiting the standing of plaintiffs to bring Establishment Clause suits merely because they are taxpayers and some tax money may be used wrongly..."

Are more rights for terrorists and criminal/law enforcement prosecutions likely to come from the Obama administration new counter-terrorist strategy?
In a word, yes.
Obama is moving to position more of our fight against jihadists in a law enforcement direction to help achieve his new "global justice" initiative. This will mean more terrorists will be brought to the United States and put into the criminal courts, I suspect.
Once again, only one former FBI agent by the name of Ali Soufan, who is a Muslim, is quoted in an article in the Los Angeles Times outlining all this for us in order to further drive home the ill ways of the Bush administration.
"The FBI and Justice Department plan to significantly expand their role in global counter-terrorism operations, part of a U.S. policy shift that will replace a CIA-dominated system of clandestine detentions and interrogations with one built around transparent investigations and prosecutions.
Under the "global justice" initiative, which has been in the works for several months, FBI agents will have a central role in overseas counter-terrorism cases. They will expand their questioning of suspects and evidence-gathering to try to ensure that criminal prosecutions are an option, officials familiar with the effort said.
Though the initiative is a work in progress, -- key to the national security strategy President Obama laid out last week -- one that presumes most accused terrorists have the right to contest the charges against them in a "legitimate" setting.
The approach effectively reverses a mainstay of the Bush administration's war on terrorism, in which global counter-terrorism was treated primarily as an intelligence and military problem, not a law enforcement one. That policy led to the establishment of the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; harsh interrogations; and detentions without trials.
The "global justice" initiative starts out with the premise that virtually all suspects will end up in a U.S. or foreign court of law.
...The harsh interrogations provided such bad information that U.S. agents spent years chasing false leads around the world, former FBI agent Ali Soufan testified before Congress two weeks ago. "It was one of the worst and most harmful decisions made in our efforts against Al Qaeda.
...Behind the scenes, some intelligence officials are resisting a broader criminal justice role overseas for the FBI, contending that it could inhibit the flow of intelligence if their own agents, or foreign governments, believe top-secret sources and methods might be disclosed during criminal prosecutions..."
Yet, it was the Bush administration who kept Americans safe from another attack. A fact rarely mentioned or appreciated by the left.
-----
Also see:
"...Soufan wrote he disapproved of enhanced interrogation techniques or, as some call it, torture. He said, "the short sightedness behind the use of these techniques ignored the unreliability of the methods, the nature of the threat, the mentality and modus operandi of the terrorists, and due process..."

Former Oklahoman and ODOT employee Mufid Abdulqader, the younger half-brother of Hamas supreme political leader Khaled Mashal, was sentenced to 20 years in prison this afternoon in Dallas for his role in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror-funding trial.
Abdulqader was alleged to be one of the incorporators of the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City. Another founder of ISOGOC is Mohammed Elyazgi an engineer at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation who worked with Adbulqader. His wife Malaka is on current governor Brad Henry’s Ethnic Advisory Board, according to attorney Mitchell Grey.

A judge in Dallas, Texas has sentenced three of the five defendants in the Holy Land Hamas terror-funding case so far this morning. Two founders received hefty sentences that will likely keep them in prison for life. Abdulrahman Odeh and former Oklahoman Mufid Abdulqader and younger half-brother of Hamas' supreme political leader, Khaled Mashal. will be sentenced later on today. A 1992 video places Abdulqader and Mashal together at a major Hamas fundraising conference in Oklahoma City, where Abdulqader and his fellow Al Sakhra members, all wearing traditional kaffiyeh headscarves and desert robes, sang: "I have nerves of steel, and no threats scare me. Only the one who is proud of carrying the rifle will succeed. No to the peace conference! Yes to jihad!."
Our people in Al Aqsa (Jerusalem) are out to revenge, to destroy the enemy," Abdulqader sang in another Al Sakhra production. "Our revolution is spread throughout the land! With Koran and Jihad, we will gain our homes back ... My precious eyes are for Palestine, the agony of death is precious, killing Jews … Death to Jews, is precious. Jews will not fear threats, only action. So Hamas, hit them with the shoe bottoms of Islam and Hamas," according to discoverthenet.
From the Dallas Morning News:
"...Shukri Abu Baker, 50, of Garland was ordered to serve 65 years in prison as sentencing began for five men convicted on charges in the largest terrorism financing case in American history. Another founder, Ghassan Elashi, 55, of Richardson, was sentenced to 65 years in prison.
...Another defendant, Mohammad El-Mezain, 55, was sentenced to 180 months in prison, followed by three years of supervisory release after serving that time. Jurors found him guilty of providing support to Hamas, having been acquitted on 31 other charges in 2007..."

From President Obama today, we learn he is merging the domestic and foreign national security wings under a new national security staff:
"...The new “National Security Staff” will support all White House policymaking activities related to international, transnational, and homeland security matters. The establishment of the new National Security Staff, under the direction of the National Security Advisor, will end the artificial divide between White House staff who have been dealing with national security and homeland security issues.
Maintaining the Homeland Security Council as the principle venue for interagency deliberations on issues that affect the security of the homeland such as terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, natural disasters, and pandemic influenza. The Homeland Security Council, like its National Security Council counterpart, will be supported by the National Security Staff. The establishment of new directorates and positions within the National Security Staff to deal with new and emerging 21st Century challenges associated with cybersecurity, WMD terrorism, transborder security, information sharing, and resilience policy, including preparedness and response.
Retaining the position of Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism (AP/HSCT) as my principal White House advisor on these issues, with direct and immediate access to me. The security of our homeland is of paramount importance to me, and I will not allow organizational impediments to stand in the way of timely action that ensures the safety of our citizens.
Creating a new Global Engagement Directorate to drive comprehensive engagement policies that leverage diplomacy, communications, international development and assistance, and domestic engagement and outreach in pursuit of a host of national security objectives, including those related to homeland security..."

The California Supreme Court upheld a law approved by the citizens of that state which bans same-sex marriages. This ruling comes from one of the most liberal states in the union:
"...The California Supreme Court today upheld Proposition 8, the voter-approved law restoring a ban on same-sex marriages in the state, but at the same time left intact the more than 18,000 marriages for gay and lesbian couples who wed last year before the ballot measure went into effect.
The Supreme Court's decision puts California in unusual territory for the time being, establishing a two-tiered system of marriage across the state for same-sex couples. Under the ruling, Proposition 8 will continue to outlaw same-sex marriage in the future, but those gay and lesbian couples who got their marriage licenses before last November's election will remain on equal legal footing with heterosexual couples..."

North Korea's underground nuclear test today raised serious concerns about this rogue regime. The ultimate threat for Americans and others is if they will sell these weapons to Al-Qaeda or another terrorist group down the road.
President Obama condemned the actions and turned to the international community for resolution and will address the issue publicly shortly.
"The international community responded swiftly with outrage and condemnation on Monday to reports of North Korea's nuclear test and firing of three short-range missiles.
U.S. President Barack Obama said North Korea's actions are violations of international law that constitute a "threat to international peace and security." Mr. Obama said North Korea's activities warrant action by the international community.
...U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said he is deeply worried and that any nuclear test would be a clear violation of a 2006 U.N. Security Council resolution banning North Korea from such acts. He said he plans to consult with the Council when it meets in a special session later Monday.North Korea says it successfully conducted an underground nuclear test that was more powerful than the country's first test two-and-a-half years ago. South Korea's Yonhap news agency also reports that North Korea test-fired three short-range missiles in the hours after the nuclear test..."

A federal judge granted a temporary restraining order sought by Craigslist owner against the South Carolina Attorney General which prevents him from bringing criminal charges against the popular website:
"...Until the court rules on the merits of craigslist's claims, defendants and their attorneys and staffs shall refrain from initiating or pursuing any prosecution against craigslist or its officers and employees in relation to content posted by third parties on craigslist's website," states the order, which was signed by U.S. District Court Judge C. Weston Houck in Charleston.
The restraining order shouldn't be a surprise, given that the law was so clearly on Craigslist's side. The federal Communications Decency Act says that Web sites aren't responsible for posts created by users that violate state law.
...Craigslist had already agreed to make changes to its site -- even though it wasn't legally required to do so. Last week, the site said it would close its "erotic services" section and replace it with a new, monitored "adult" category. As of today, some of the ads in the "adult" section still appeared to be for prostitution, but with more ambiguous language than in the past..."

A time for thanks and remembrance
I am thankful For knowing I have a place as I awake to a new day
For the right to speak my mind or kneel quietly and pray...
For the dreams that I strive to reach. For the love I am free to give
For the laughter shared with dearest friend - the necessity to live...
For the security and peace of mind knowing all is safe and sound
For growing, sharing, hoping and caring. For goodness that is all around...
For all of this we are grateful , whispered soundly or loudly sing
Their duty, their sacrifice have let our freedom ring...
This came in a e-card I received. Its beautiful and I wish I could give credit to who wrote it. I want to share these thoughts with z-readers on this special weekend.
Have a great and blessed Memorial Day!

Today House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she stood by her comments that the CIA mislead her but she refused to elaborate (see video below).
“I have made the statement that I’m going to make on this,” Pelosi, D-Calif., said at a news conference today. “I stand by my comment. And what we are doing is not being distracted from it.”
Pressed further, she said, “I won’t have anything more to say about it.”
So there, America. Pelosi accused the CIA of lying, which is a crime, but then claims up.
Astonishing.

This 57 country organization (Was Obama's 57 state gaff a conincidence? ) is the largest Islamic body in the world and has UN status.
Now, it is being considered by the Palestinian Authority as the possible authority for control of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to the Arab News:
"The Palestinian Authority (PA) would be willing to relinquish Palestinian rights over the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound only if its sovereignty is transferred to the Jeddah-based Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) as part of a final-status agreement, sources said yesterday. The OIC is a signatory to the Arab peace initiative..."
The Al-Aqsa Mosque is located at Temple Mount in Jerusalem. It was built over an early Jewish temple to show Islamic dominance over the land backed up by verses in the Quran that state Islam is to dominate over all other religions:
Whoever wants to adopt another way except Islam then his/her that way will never be accepted and on the Day of Judgment he/she will be total failure and unfortunate”-Al Quran (3-85)
Does the Islamic world give due respect at all to the fact that this Jewish temple was destroyed when Jerusalem was invaded and seized by the 2nd Islamic caliph Umar? Obviously not - it wants to rule over it again.
What side of this issue does President Obama fall? It has been floated in the press that he is more inline with the Arab Peace Initiative which calls for Israel to give up this land in East Jerusalem. It's reported Obama's solution is an upgrade of the Saudi peace initiative with a proposal the Old City of Jerusalem become an international zone under UN control.
President Obama's upcoming speech in the former Christian dominated country of Egypt may clarify this for us. To further add insult to injury to Christians, he has been encouraged in the press by Egypt to speak from their oldest mosque.
We should all keep in mind an Islamic caliphate moves in incremental steps over the years and decades towards its final goal.

Just thought I'd pass along information about a proposed 4-year Islamic college in Berkeley, California. For more information about the chairman of the management board for the college Hatem Bazian, who is featured in the announcement, see below particuarly his call for an intifada in the U.S. which was captured on video.
New college:
"...Part of the process of indigenizing Islam in America is for the community to begin to develop its own leadership from inside the country, develop its own scholars," said Hatem Bazian, chair of the management board for Zaytuna College and a senior lecturer of Near Eastern studies at the University of California at Berkeley.
"There is a growing need in the Muslim community to provide a variety of trained specialists to fulfill a growing and diverse community infrastructure and institutional framework," Bazian said -- to work as imams, as chaplains, or within the growing network of Islamic non-profit organizations. Currently, Bazian said, American students who seek a high-level Islamic education must study in the Muslim world.
The proposed college would be built out of an existing institute with significant influence in the Islamic community. The Zaytuna Institute and Academy, an Islamic educational institute founded in 1996, is transitioning into Zaytuna College; the Berkeley-based institute already offers classes, but not for university credit.
...In terms of curriculum, the plan is to start with just two majors, in Arabic language and Islamic law and theology. All students would be required to take an intensive summer Arabic course, or otherwise demonstrate proficiency, prior to their freshman fall. Students would also take anywhere from 54 to 70 credits in general education..."

House Democrats today blocked an attempt by Republicans to propose the creation of a bi-partisan commission to look into her allegations the CIA misled Congress.
Thanks Democrats for not letting us find out the truth:
"House Democrats today rebuffed the latest bid by Republicans to pummel Speaker Nancy Pelosi over what she knew about waterboarding and her accusations that the CIA misled her.
The House voted 252-172 to block a GOP measure that would have created a bipartisan congressional panel to investigate Pelosi's claims, which current CIA director Leon Panetta has denied.
Republicans have pilloried Pelosi, saying she should offer proof that the CIA lied to her during a 2002 briefing, as she asserted last week, or apologize.
"To have this charge out there and not have it resolved I think is damaging to our intelligence efforts, and certainly will have a chilling effect on our intelligence professionals around the world," House Republican Leader John Boehner told reporters..."

I'm paraphrasing here what appears to be President Obama's defiance against Congressional actions about funding the closing of Guantanamo Bay which he addressed this morning:
...We know Al-Quada is planning to attack us...We have to hold to our fundamental values... I took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and cannot turn our back on it for expediency...Our values are our best asset...
We know our enemy has surrendered to us because they knew they would be treated better than their own...(what?)
9/11 changed things...Our government made a series of hasty decisions... made on fear more than foresight, fitted facts and evidence to their needs...sat principles aside..too many of us fell silent... we went off course...this assessment was made by the American people who called for a new approach... We are at war with Al-Qaeda and its affiliates...framework by gov (Bush) failed....I banned enhanced interrogations techniques...brutal methods of waterboarding...I see the intelligence and I reject this method...they undermine the rule of law...helps recruit new terrorists...they risk the lives of our troops...all this undermined the war...This methods belong in the past...
the 2nd decision was to close Guantanamo Bay, for over 7 years detained hundreds...3 convictions in over 7 years...525 detainees released by the previous administration not me...it set back our moral authority in the world...it help Al-Qaeda recruit more it didn't keep us safer...the cost of keeping it open far exceeded (misssed it)...
The 3rd decision to order review of all pending cases...I knew it would be difficult...We are cleaning up something that is a mess...
17 Chinese Muslims were ordered released last fal under Bush...the problem wasn't caused by me but by it being opened int he first place...They are no neat and easy answers here...the wrong answer is to pretend it will go away and get it going...I refuse to allow it to fester...I'll let other litigate the problems of the last 8 years...fear-mongering...words were said to scare people...
Two broad areas I will focus...we are not going to release any if it will endanger anyone's national security...One: we will seek to detain them in U.S. prisons...gives several reasons why...Two: some will be tried by military tribunal...detainees will have more latitude to select their own council...these will be fair...Three: those who have been ordered released by the courts...this is the rule of law. Four: detainees who may be transferred to other countries...Finally, those who cannot be prosecuted and they are too dangerous to let go...we will try to prosecute them...there may be a number who cannot be prosecuted but they still pose a threat to us...those who have received explosive training...allegiance to Bin Laden...they are at war with the U.S...detention policies cannot be unbounded...we are reshaping standards...fair procedures...involves judicial and congressional oversight...
These are all issues for fodder, I can picture what will happen, I get it...
Security issue requires a delicate balance with some transparency.
Now he is giving his reason for releasing interrogation memos and is defending his action...released memos because they was no overriding reason not to...now gives reasons for not releasing photos...
He is still talking but I have an obligation to tend to. Frankly his constant blame President Bush for everything is getting real old.

"...The men were also charged with plotting to shoot military planes located at New York's Air National Guard base at Stewart airport in Newburgh, New York, with stinger surface-to-air guided missiles, the statement said. Newburgh is about 60 miles (96 km) north of New York City.
The four men, identified as James Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams and Laguerre Payen, were arrested after buying an inactive missile and inert explosives in a sting operation run by the FBI and other agencies, the complaint said.
Cromitie said if he died a martyr, he would go to "paradise" and that he was interested in doing "something to America," the complaint said. Last July, he told the informant he wanted to join Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan-based group Washington designates as a terrorist organization, to "do jihad," according to the complaint.
Representative Peter King, a New York Republican, said the suspects planned to undertake their attack on Wednesday using a car bomb outside the synagogue.
Tonight was the night the attacks were being carried out," King told CNN.
He said the four men were born in the United States and were all Muslim, one born Muslim of Afghan descent and three who converted in prison..."
Update 5/21/09: NY Terror Suspects Appear in Court, Accused of 'Chilling Plot' ABC News
"...The men -- at least three of whom appear to be recent radicalized converts to Islam, according to law enforcement sources -- all lived near the city of Newburgh, N.Y., about 60 miles north of New York City...Cromitie, the suspected ringleader, allegedly planted the bombs and the remaining three suspects served as lookouts, Kelly said. The entire operation only took about 20 to 25 minutes, and authorities arrested the suspects as they returned to their car.
Mosque officials discuss terror suspects, suggest entrapment Lower Hudson Journal news
"...Salahuddin Mustafa Muhammad, the head imam of Masjid Al-Ikhlas, said James Cromitie and Payen were loosely affiliated with the mosque; they occasionally attended Friday prayers there.
Over the past several months, and maybe more than a year, a man had been coming to the mosque and mingling with members, and offering them $25,000 to become involved in some unspecified activity, he said.
Muhammad said the arrest and investigation were a classic case of entrapment..."

Ahmed Ghailani, a Guantanamo Bay enemy combatant now generically called a detainee, is apparently coming to New York City for trial, according to an unnamed Obama administration official several media outlets are reporting this evening.
This seems odd since Congress is not funding the closing of Guantanamo Bay because President Obama lacks a plan on how to do it. Didn't Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. at a news conference yesterday. said no to these guys coming here?
If this is accurate, is this the administration's way to flex their muscle over Congress?

Syed Haris Ahmed has decided to leave his fate up to an Atlanta, Georgia judge appointed by President Bush rather than a jury in his upcoming terrorism trial. He said he made the decision primarily so he can make a public statement at the end of the trial which begins June 1.
"...Ahmed also told Duffey that, considering the high-profile nature of the case, he believed the judge would be “more impartial than normal people.”
During a pre-trial hearing, Duffey carefully questioned Ahmed about his decision to relinquish his right to let 12 jurors decide the case. Ahmed said he understood what he was doing.
...Ahmed is charged with Ehsanul Islam Sadequee, of Roswell, of trying to join Lashkar-e-Taiba, the Pakistani-based terrorist group. They also are accused of taking videos for “potential terrorist attacks” during a 2005 trip to Washington. Sadequee is to be tried separately in August. Both men have pleaded not guilty.

Have you ever wondered what states have the highest per capita state taxes?
Vermont is the highest with each person paying $3,600 per year. Next is Hawaii followed by Wyoming, Connecticut, and Minnesota, according to the U.S. Census Bureau for 2005.
What prompted me to look into this was a statement made by a Fox News commentator who said how come the highest taxed states are in the worst financial shape referring to New York and California. But this is incorrect. Per capita California is ranked 10 and New York 11th so they are not the highest taxed states.
Oklahoma ranks 35th at $1,933.00!

A number of 2nd generation Muslim immigrants in Germany, whom we all would think would be well adjusted to their new nation and its laws, have been traveling to Pakistan terrorist training camps according to the annual Protection of the Constitution report.
In addition, the report revealed a number of Muslim groups within Germany want to live under Sharia law or strict Islamic law, according to Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble.
The report warns Germany is an immediate target for Islamic terror groups and that the Internet was the most important communication and propaganda instrument for them.
The report also revealed disturbing increases in right and leftwing extremist crimes.

Jerome Norvell Denson was stopped by Trooper Sheldon Robinson September 5, 2008 as he was in the process of loading his gun and praying to Allah for help to complete his mission to kill as many people as he could inside a south Tulsa Burger King. According to the first arrest record for him, he was a known danger to the community (scroll to 10/6/2008 entry).
No newspaper in Oklahoma carried the story at the time of the incident.
Nor did any newspaper carry the story when Denson pled guilty on May 8th (scroll to bottom of page). that I can find. He will be sentenced June 15th.
Trooper Robinson was named Trooper of the Year on April 4, 2009 for his bravery and quick action.

President Obama's fellow Senate Democrats rebuffed the administration's request for funds to close Guantanamo Bay today because they didn't submit a plan on how to close it or move the prisioners to the U.S. or elsewhere, reports the Washington Post.
"We'll wipe out all the money, but I'll put in a provision saying none of the funds in this bill or any other bill may be used to pay for the transfer of detainees from Guantanamo to the United States," until there is some plan, said Senator Daniel Inouye, chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee and an author of the bill..."

CAIR is praising Sen. Arlin Spector today after he cancelled an appearance at a free speech conference, according the the American Spectator. CAIR claims they are responsible after branding the conference anti-Islam and launched a petition drive against Spector attending the "anti-Islam" conference.
Remember, my fellow Americans, no religion should ever be above criticism. So when CAIR tries to surpress someone from criticism of Islamism or even Islam they are trying to impose Sharia Law onto non-Muslims in a non-Muslim country:
"Sen. Arlen Specter backed out of speaking at a Tuesday conference on the global effort to silence speech critical of Islam, citing a scheduling conflict, but the Council on American-Islamic Relations has taken credit for his decision.
In February Specter introduced legislation in the U.S. Senate aimed at protecting American authors who have been sued under plaintiff-friendly libel laws overseas. He was scheduled to speak about the trend, known as "libel tourism," at a Washington conference being sponsored by the Legal Project of the Middle East Forum, the Federalist Society Center for National Security Law, and the Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Expression.
...But Brooke Goldstein*, who organized the conference in her role as director of the Middle East Forum's Legal Project, said that Specter had canceled his scheduled appearance two days before CAIR launched its online petition. The group issued a press release responding to CAIR this morning, noting that Specter has not changed his support for the legislation he co-sponsored with Sens. Chuck Schumer and Joe Leiberman..."

Call me dense but isn't the automobile industry about to fold? Then why would the president demand they spend millions, perhaps billions, of dollars which they don't have to improve gas mileage and reduce emission? Apparently, the bailout money has bought an exhuberant buy-in from GM and Chrysler for Obama's plans.
The president's announcement today comes after the Commerce Department informs us housing starts for April dropped to records lows, which is the lowest pace on record for the past 50 years!
Guess who will pay the price for the president's demands? It will be you and your family. The administration says the higher price tag for these new cars will be offset by fuel savings.
Have you seen some of these smaller mini cars? These tiny cars will likely increase your risk of serious injury and death in a crash.

One-time California Democratic Congessman Leon Panetta, who is the new head of the CIA, bravely stood up to partisan politics today to state that we are a nation at war and that the partisan politics can take our eye of the seriousness of the threat facing our country:
"...Panetta spoke at a luncheon in California in his first public appearance since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi last week accused the CIA of lying to Congress about its use of enhanced interrogation tactics during the Bush administration.
Panetta, who denied the charge through a written statement, tried to quiet the debate Monday and offer a warning to those who "focus on the past."
..."We are a nation at war. We have to confront that reality every day, and while it's important to learn the lessons of the past, we must not do it in a way that sacrifices our capability to stay focused on the present, stay focused on the future and stay focused on those who threaten the United States of America."
Panetta said Al Qaeda remains the "most serious security threat" to the country.
..."What I'm most concerned about is that this stuff doesn't become the kind of political issue that everything else becomes in Washington, D.C., where it becomes so divisive that it begins to interfere with the ability of the intelligence agencies to do our primary job, which is to focus on the threats that face us today and tomorrow," he said..."

What more can one say about the on-going opening-of-mouth and inserting-of-foot by Vice President Joe Biden other than to say in his latest goof-up he may have revealed classified information.
More importantly what does this say about President Obama's decision-making capabilities with his selection of Biden, the first in line to the presidency, since his embarrassing antics have been well-known for years.
"Vice President Joseph Biden reportedly gave away the secret location of a bunker designed for sitting vice presidents to stay during national emergencies.
Eleanor Clift, Newsweek contributing editor and television pundit, said Biden was speaking at a dinner at the Gridiron Club in Washington, D.C. and told his table mates that the bunker is at the Naval Observatory, which is also the vice presidential residence..."

Using a portion of someone's else's work is done correctly all the time in print and on the Internet when a blogger or writer correctly credit the source of what they referenced.
However, on Sunday New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd copied and pasted a paragraph written by a blogger without giving him credit. She changed two words in the paragraph and used it as her own work. The changed words are highlighted below:
Dowd's opinion piece titled Chaney Master of Pain (see link below) published yesterday where she set the tone by stating Dick Cheney has done many dastardly things in the first sentence. She then moved on to Nancy Pelosi making a rather stark point. "It’s discomfiting to think that the woman who’s making Joe Biden seem suave is second in line to the presidency."
Ouch! But, she decided what Pelosi knew or didn't know is irrelevant compared to the evil-doers of the previous administration. It is always the fault of the Bush administration not matter what, according to the left.
Below is what she lifted from blogger, Josh Marshall, at Talking Points Memo:
“More and more the timeline is raising the question of why, if the torture was to prevent terrorist attacks, it seemed to happen mainly during the period when the Bush crowd was looking for what was essentially political information to justify the invasion of Iraq.”
Josh Marshall blogged on May 14th:
“More and more the timeline is raising the question of why, if the torture was to prevent terrorist attacks, it seemed to happen mainly during the period when we were looking for what was essentially political information to justify the invasion of Iraq.”
Today, at the bottom of Dowd's article appears the following:
"This article has been revised to reflect the following correction:
Correction: May 18, 2009

Oh, oh:
"Members of Congress have been told in confidential briefings that Pakistan is rapidly adding to its nuclear arsenal even while racked by insurgency, raising questions on Capitol Hill about whether billions of dollars in proposed military aid might be diverted to Pakistan’s nuclear program.
...The administration’s effort is complicated by the fact that Pakistan is producing an unknown amount of new bomb-grade uranium and, once a series of new reactors is completed, bomb-grade plutonium for a new generation of weapons. Mr. Obama has called for passage of a treaty that would halt all nations from producing more fissile material — the hardest part of making a nuclear weapon — but so far has said nothing in public about Pakistan’s activities..."
Of course the left-leaning New York Times makes sure it is understood that it's all President Bush's fault:
...The dimensions of the Pakistani buildup are not fully understood. “We see them scaling up their centrifuge facilities,” said David Albright, the president of the Institute for Science and International Security, which has been monitoring Pakistan’s continued efforts to buy materials on the black market, and analyzing satellite photographs of two new plutonium reactors less than 100 miles from where Pakistani forces are currently fighting the Taliban. “The Bush administration turned a blind eye to how this is being ramped up,” he said. “And of course, with enough pressure, all this could be preventable...”

A teenager gives his first hand account to a British news outlet how he was recruited in Britian to be a jihadist. He is now one of about 200 who are in a rehab program for would-be terrorists backed by the government. That's right, 200 are in it:
"...In the first insider account of how radicals are preying on vulnerable Muslim youths, the teenager describes being approached by Islamists at a mosque in south London that was used by the failed 21/7 bombers, and indoctrinated at a secret network of squats.
Aged 15, he was the youngest of about 50 recruits who were shown “martyrdom” videos and encouraged to travel to Pakistan to receive terrorist training.
The youth, who is called Adam, told The Sunday Times: “They showed us a jihadist video with the martyrdom flags behind the guy speaking, and the message I got was that I should prepare myself for martyrdom.
...“It was quite shocking to me,” he said. “I started to think, ‘Well, hold on a second, I don’t want to kill anybody. Yeah, I’ve got anger inside me, but this isn’t the right way to deal with this’...”

Somalia's government recently instilled Sharia Law in the country, as foreign fighters enter the country to topple the government. The undertone of Al-Qaeda is apparent.
Furthermore, the jihadist movement there, the Mujajideen of Al-Shabbab, is aided by YouTube in their efforts to recruit, whp produces some of their videos in HD quality!
The latest development:
"..."This as a disturbing development," President Barack Obama's top official on Africa, Jonnie Carson, told the BBC.
...Following a week of violence, 100 people are dead and 30,000 more have fled Somalia's capital, Mogadishu.
There have been a number of reports of foreign fighters, with possible links to al-Qaeda, fighting alongside hardline Islamists of al-Shabaab and Hisbul-Islam, said Mr Carson, the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs."
"We're extremely worried about the reports."
"There seem to be fairly serious and creditable reports that al Shabaab does have, amongst its fighters, a number of individuals of South Asian and Chechen origin," said Mr Carson.
"This is a very disturbing situation and reflects the seriousness of the problem in Somalia."

Today CIA director Leon Panetta stood with his agency after the allegations were made against the CIA by Nancy Pelosi yesterday. Did he in the process throw House Speaker Nancy Pelosi under the bus?
"Panetta who took office as President Obama's CIA chief in February, reasserted the agency's claim that it told congressional leaders about the use of such methods during a closed-door briefing in September 2002.
..."Our contemporaneous records from September 2002 indicate that CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of [suspected terrorist] Abu Zubaida, describing the 'enhanced techniques that had been employed,' " Panetta said.
"At every step of the way, the administration was misleading the Congress," Pelosi said in a news conference.
The CIA by law must inform a select group of congressional leaders from both parties about its covert activities. Lawmakers have sometimes complained that the briefings are short on detail and subject to secrecy rules that prevent sharing the information with others, including personal staff.
CIA records of the 2002 meeting consist of memos written after the event by agency participants. There were no recordings or transcripts, they say..."

CAIR, an organization that started as an outgrowth of the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas infrastructure in America, has posted on their website a response they call "Internet Disinformation" about them. They addressed 8 issues in the 10 page document. I will start with one at a time just because of the time it will take to either confirm or debunk their response. I started in no particular order other than #5 caught my eye first: Internet Disinformation #5: CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad publicly declared support for Hamas at Barry University in Florida in 1994, saying: "I’m in support of the Hamas movement." First, CAIR said is was in response to a question about the social programs in Gaza but they didn't provide us with a link to a video that backed up this statement which is really necessary as support documentation. CAIR went on to say: "...This statement was made in March 1994, before CAIR was formed. Hamas did not commit its first suicide bombing until October 1994. The United States subsequently identified Hamas as a specially designated terrorist in January 1995.." According to Wikipedia, the first Hamas suicide bomber was in 1993, with the Mehola Junction bombing. In 1994 there were 4 suicide bombers for a total of 5 bombings before the terrorist designation. According to another source, CAMERA there were a number of suicide attacks by Hamas in 1993. CAIR stated they have consistently denounced violence by Hamas, but in a google search (CAIR's statements against HAMAS) I didn't find one. Nor did CAIR link to any past statements.
The facts don't seem to jive with CAIR's statement on Internet Disinformation #5.

A Houston-based Imam, supported by the Islamic Society of Greater Houston, was released from several months of immigration detention on a $20,000 bond while he awaits a decision of his deportation hearing:
"The spiritual leader of a Houston mosque was released Wednesday from an immigration detention center where he had been held without bail since December pending the outcome of a deportation hearing.
Sheikh Zoubir Bouchikhi, 39, was released on a $20,000 bond while he awaits the decision.
Bouchikhi, an Algerian native, came to the United States 11 years ago as a student and obtained a religious worker visa, the Houston Chronicle reported. He sought permanent residency for himself, his wife and oldest child. His three other children are American citizens.
Supporters of the imam of Abu Bakr Siddqui mosque had sent 1,250 letters to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in Houston seeking his release. His lawyer had filed a petition last week in federal court, contending Bouchikhi was unlawfully detained.
...The government had accepted a green card petition on the imam's behalf by the Islamic Society of Greater Houston in 2003, but revoked the petition in 2007 and denied his request for permanent residency.

Today, at a weekly Thursday news conference, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reaffirmed her accusations that the CIA mislead Congress about its use of enhanced interrogation techniques. See video below.
"Under a barrage of questioning, Pelosi also again adamantly insisted that she was not aware that waterboarding or other enhanced interrogation techniques were being used on terrorism suspects and
"I am telling you they told me they approved these and said they wanted to use them but said they were not using waterboarding," she said..."
But even left-leaning CNN reported on Tuesday, that a security aide confirmed Pelosi knew of waterboarding:
"...A source close to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi now confirms that Pelosi was told in February 2003 by her intelligence aide, Michael Sheehy, that waterboarding was actually used on CIA detainee Abu Zubaydah.

Amazing. There's another article about Ali Soufan, a former FBI interrogator and a Muslim who is against torture. Today, ABC News released an article titled FBI Whistleblower Testimony: Gonzales Imposed Brutal Interrogation Tactics written by Matthew Cole.
In fact, take a look at all the articles about Soufan that have appeared lately.
Games are being played here, folks. Soufan is the star anti-torture guy for the left! Are we to believe he is the only FBI interrogator around? The media is doing a diservice to America by this one-sided spectacle.
First of all, let's look at the author of the ABC article. Is Matthew Cole the same Matthew Cole who is/was an aspiring screenwriter and journalist who has written article like Angelina Jolie Has A New Baby Girl back in 2005 whose articles all of a sudden stopped in that year? Did Cole pop up again as a party to The James Madison Project and Matthew Cole vs. the CIA? Are they the same person? ABC doesn't provide their readers a link with his byline to know anything about him.
In any event, here's the comment I added to the article:
"It's so amazing the timing of Soufan's op-ed piece in the New York Times on April 22nd and the article about him in Time that followed on April 24th and now this article along with the release of so-called torture documents by the White House.
What a remarkable coincidence!
In a May 2008 article by Soufan in the Washington Post titled "Coddling Terrorists In Yemen", Soufan, a Muslim, wrote:
"...When the FBI arrived in Yemen, some government officials tried to convince us that the explosion had been caused by a malfunction in the Cole's operating systems. Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh even asked the U.S. government for money to clean up port damage the United States "caused."
...We faced constant threats to our safety, not just from terrorists. Members of the Yemeni parliament, in fiery speeches broadcast on official television, called for "jihad" to be declared against us. The hotel where we stayed was shot at and received at least one bomb threat, prompting an evacuation..."
Mr. Soufan argues that enhanced interrogation is ineffective based on his own ability to interrogate without it. Yet, he collapsed and was rushed to the emergency room after three long days with little sleep while interrogating Fahd al-Quso, a man who boasted he had fought beside Osama Bin Laden. As a result of his efforts, Soufan reportedly got good information (page 11, The Agent).
Soufan, was the chief liaison to the Qatar Royal family while working for Rudy Guiliani's security firm according to ABC News in an article title "Giuliani's Ties to Qatar Raise Questions for Mr. 9/ll" dated 11/27/07.
He now has his own "security" firm and moved into a $1.7 million apartment in New York City last year.
What 's the name of his firm? Who are his clients?
Soufan won't show his face on TV, according to a CNN transcript dated 10/29/07 and seeks to live in secrecy because of the "evildoers," as he put it. in an article in the Observer dated 1/29/08. Aren't those evildoers Islamic radicals? They are the very would-be killers Soufan argues should be given due process and sheltered from harsh interrogations."
Give me a break.
Update 5/13/09 2:07 PM CT: On CNN just now Rick Sanchez showed a clip of Ali Soufan testifying before Congress from behind a curtain because, as Sanchez said, the terrorists want him dead!
CNN Transcript 5/13/09 Rick Sanchez around the 7 minute mark into the hour-long transcript.
"And there's this. This is what else Americans have been very much involved with today. There's hardly a citizen, a politician or soldier who hasn't expressed an opinion in our conversation, our national conversation about our country's interrogation methods. Some call it torture.
You have heard the arguments. Some call it a necessary evil. You have heard those arguments as well. Enter a guy who's not just an American average citizen or just another politician or a soldier. This guy knows what an effective interrogation is, because he has interrogated terrorists and gotten them to talk.
He's gotten kudos from up and down the stratosphere of folks in the military and in politics, considered one of the best at this. He is behind that screen you see right there, that wooden screen, where it protects his identity, because the terrorists want him dead.'
Update 5/13/09 4:46 PM CT: The name of his company: The Soufan Group, LLC. Others involved: Daniel Freedman, Bud Aldridge, Robert Shea, Geoggrey Gillian, Rick Festorizzi, John Waddell
