Just how tough of a leader is President Obama against those who have declared war against America and who try to kill us?
In his statements days after the failed airline bomb attack on Christmas Obama didn't mentioned the enemy by name once. I don't believe he has ever discussed with the American people the essence of their religious/political ideology and their ultimate goal to create a new empire. Al-Qaeda and its affiliates want to kill Americans and destroy our country and all others who stand in their way. They declared war on America in 1996 - did they not? They reaffirmed it again in 1998. They are a global organization, intertwined with other like groups - all supported by Islamists who share the same religious supremacist ideology that Islam should rein supreme over all other religions with a new caliphate that spans countries. The president calls it a perversion of Islam but for the entire history of Islam - Muslims were ruled over by Islamic supremacist caliphs until the last was defeated in 1924. Perversion?
Did he say after this failed attack we are at war and this was an attack by our enemy? Hmmm... I don't think so - he called it an isolated extremist attack.
The Christmas terrorist tried to carry out a martyrdom mission for an ideology that highly values those who give up their life for their religion. He is an enemy combatant but the Obama administration treats these attacks as a criminal act and has banned the phrase.
The terrorist will now hide behind his court appointed civilian attorney.
Historic prosecution of our enemies during war is not on the side of Obama. The regular justice system were often not used in the Civil War, the Revolutionary War, the Mexican War, and both World Wars. For example, President Lincoln did away with writ of habeas corpus during the Civil War, if you recall. In WWII, Nazi's infiltrated America and planned attacks against our economic interests. A military commission on instructions from President Franklin D. Roosevelt tried the men. He ordered this because he felt the criminal courts would be too lenient. All were executed in D.C. within days of being found guilty by the commission except two men who turned themselves in. This was called Operation Pastorius. Lawyers for the accused wanted to have the case tried in a civilian court, but were rejected by the Supreme Court in Ex parte Quirin.
Sadly, the mixed signals the president gives out does not make most Americans feel safer and it emboldens the enemy who attacks have noticeably increased in America since President Obama took office.
