Dr, Bruce Prescott heads Mainstream Baptists which is located in Norman, Oklahoma. He has a weekly radio show on the Internet and last November he interviewed Razi Hashmi, the Director of the CAIR chapter in Oklahoma shortly after the Ft. Hood shooting. Hashmi read a statement from CAIR National about the attack during the interview.
There is one two minute segment in the roughly 20-25 minute interview I found disturbing (see audio/video below). First, Dr. Prescott said how important it is for us to do our own research to be sure we have accurate facts. Unfortunately, I don't believe he practices what he preaches - which should become apparent. Listen to Hashmi label CAIR critics as extreme right-wing fringe groups who fear monger with lies. But Hashmi was asked for specifics about their lies. Hashmi never answered the question. Yet, Dr. Prescott bite into Hashmi's generalization hook, line and sinker.
Anti-CAIR, headed by Andrew Whitehead, is the group Prescott referred to prior to Hashmi's response. He could have been speaking in general terms about CAIR critics, but I don't think so.
For those of you who don't know, CAIR sued Anti-CAIR in 2004 and then dismissed their suit with prejudice during crucial discovery requests by Whitehead's counsel that sought details on CAIR’s finances, its relationship to Hamas, and its ties to Saudi Arabia and other Islamic radicals.
Today, it 's like the suit was never filed! CAIR can't file a lawsuit against Anti-CAIR again over the issues they claimed libeled them. Andrew Whitehead reports the "terms of the settlement are confidential. However, no apology was issued, no retraction or corrections made, and the statements that triggered CAIR’s suit remain on the ACAIR website." One of the statements that brought the suit stated: "Let there be no doubt that CAIR is a terrorist supporting front organization that is partially funded by terrorists, and that CAIR wishes nothing more than the implementation of Sharia law in America.”
If this is wholly inaccurate why did CAIR dismiss the lawsuit? There are more legal details here which I encourage others to read, especially Dr. Prescott. CAIR National buckled when it came to releasing their financial backers, it appears. And, now it has come to light they haven't filed their taxes since 2006! I also sent Dr. Prescott a personal note about my concerns.
I encourage Dr. Prescott, Rashi Hashmi or anyone else to let me know if I ever write anything that is not factually accurate so I can correct it. I can make mistakes for I am only human but be sure to include a proof source to back up your claim.
In this interview segment Hashmi also said people shouldn't necessarily assimilate in America!

The Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN), the Canadian chapter of the controversial Washington, DC-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), has recently issued a press release (attached) purporting to report the outcome of a defamation lawsuit in which I was a defendant. Readers are cautioned that the CAIR-CAN document is misleading in certain important respects.
