Oklahoma has an Assistant Attorney General by the name of William F. O'Brien who writes fluffy articles in the Edmond Sun about CAIR, an organization founded by leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood who were identified in U.S. vs. Sabri Benkahla, who also "conspired with other affiliates of the Muslim Brotherhood to support terrorists." Their pattern of troubling behavior continues to this day. O'Brien also proselytizes for Islam - crossing the line between government and religion, in my opinion.
O'Brien's byline in the Edmond Sun where he writes his fluffy articles says he is an attorney, which is rather deceptive considering he is a state official. Does the Attorney General of Oklahoma, Drew Edmondson, who is running for governor, not have a problem with this behavior?
O'Brien's latest article titled CAIR honors contributors at annual banquet is more of the same.
Razi Hashmi, the director of CAIR's chapter in Oklahoma has been giving six opportunities to address the documented evidence that ties CAIR to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas recently. Since November, he has either bragged about CAIR (OETA interview), called other liars here (Newson6) and here (interview) or distanced (OU Daily) CAIR Oklahoma from CAIR, or refused to answer questions (News9) or claimed critics are misinformed (Edmond Sun).
Last year, Hashmi shilled for Hamas when he said "America should take immediate steps to end Israel’s "illegal and immoral” offensive against the Gaza Strip’s Hamas rulers." He also tried to puts words in the mouth of Oklahomans by saying (halfway down) he thinks we are worried about taxpayer dollars that support Israel! How utterly presumptuous of him because that's flat wrong! Hashmi then tried to put pressure on U.S. Rep. Mary Fallen to keep her opinions about Israel to herself!
How long can Hashmi continue to dodge these questions? How long can Drew Edmondson allow an assistant attorney general to shill for CAIR?
Update 9/27/10: In O'Brien's latest article in August, he wrote about CAIR's Muslim Youth Activism/Leadership program. He mentioned Dawud Walid, the executive director of the Michigan CAIR chapter. whose chapter is suing several law enforcement agencies in Michigan, over information in the death of a radical cleric. CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror-funding trial and the FBI severed their partnership.
O'Brien never mentions any of these facts.
