In an interview with Fox News yesterday, Razi Hashmi, the director of CAIR Oklahoma said efforts to ban Sharia law from ever being considered in Oklahoma courts was “really all about anti-Muslim bigotry.” However, Hashmi generally responds to troubling documentation about CAIR as the fault, hate or bigotry of others. So, this issue appears no different.
Everyone needs to be aware that there is an assistant attorney general in Oklahoma who regularly shills for CAIR in a local newspaper, the Edmond Sun. This man appears to be in a position that could affect legal ruling, to some degree, either now or in the future. Fox News should interview William F. O'Brien and ask him why he stands up for such a controversial organization as CAIR.
His boss, Drew Edmondson (D) is running for governor.
Since November, Razi Hashmi has either bragged about CAIR (OETA interview), called other liars in a Newson6 article and in an interview with Dr. Bruce Prescott or distanced CAIR Oklahoma from CAIR(OU Daily) or refused to answer questions (News9) or claimed critics are misinformed (Edmond Sun) when he's been confronted about facts that haunt the organization he represents. There is a serious problem if you can't even be honest.
Hashmi has even shilled for Hamas in the Oklahoma press. He said in the Fox News interview Duncan refused to accept the Quran at an "official state ceremony." recently. Hummm... Official state ceremony? Now that claim he made ought to get your attention. There was no official state ceremony recently. The Quran was offered in a 2007 letter written by the Governor's Ethnic American Advisory Council that was sent to all Oklahoma legislators. The council which is made up of Muslims was set up by democratic governor Brad Henry, at the request of several Muslim leaders. Hashmi claimed it was an official state ceremony? I don't think so.
I say thank you to Rep. Rex Duncan and the Oklahoma legislators who had the political courage to take on this issue that will allow Oklahomans to decide.
