CAIR Oklahoma Board Chair charged with conspiracy and more

Michael Aziz Gipson, CAIR Oklahoma's Board Chair up until just a few days ago, was in court yesterday to plead not guilty to charges of conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering in connection with fraudulent mortgages.  The alleged acts took place before Gipson was elected to the Chairman position last year.  It's unclear if he was part of CAIR Oklahoma from its beginning in 2007 but one surely doesn't go from zero involvement to Board Chair overnight.

 

CAIR OKlahoma quickly removed Gipson's name from their website, appointed someone else to that position, Dr. Amir Khaliq,  who is likely a professor at OU's College of Public Health. 

 

Gipson's alleged illegal activities appear to be unrelated to his role at CAIR Oklahoma and he is, of course, presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Gipson was Board Chair until all this fell down on him, I suspect.  A cache page from CAIR Oklahoma's website from the 24th of July shows Gipson the Board Chair and so does another cache page from July 21st.  These cache pages will disappear soon but I will upload copies when they do.

Earlier this year a long-time member of CAIR and former Board Chair of their Texas chapter and former CAIR national board member, Nabil Sadoun, was formally deported.  The judge noted his involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas at his deportation hearing.   In the 90s. Sadoun was the Imam in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Update 3:30 PM:  According to a Facebook entry last Friday, the City Sentinel reported Razi Hashmi, CAIR Oklahoma's Executive Director will leave CAIR. It really is a posting for his job and candidates were asked to send their resume to none other than Michael Aziz Gipson!

Courageous Muslim women challenge segregation at U.S. mosques

Here is an excellent story about some brave Muslim women in the U.S. who are working towards equality in their mosque, from the Wall Street Journal:

Muslim feminists call it the "penalty box." It's the area of a mosque where women, segregated from the men, pray. In Islam, prayer is required five times a day and Muslims often pray in congregation at mosques. During these prayers, women usually are partitioned off in a separate room or behind a curtain, "like naughty children," one Muslim woman tells me, while men pray in a grand main hall.

One Muslim, Fatima Thompson, describes the penalty box at her mosque in Maryland as an overheated, dark back room. Another Muslim woman, Asra Nomani, tells me that at a major Washington D.C. mosque, the female section was in a trailer, where the voice of the imam (the prayer leader) came from a crackling speaker. "It was so humiliating I never went back," says Ms. Nomani, a former reporter for the Journal.

Now these Muslim feminists have had enough. Hoping to reform Islam by making it more women-friendly, Ms. Thompson—an American convert to Islam—has organized several "pray-ins" at mosques in the D.C. area. These include the Islamic Center of Washington and the Dar Al-Hijra Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va., a mosque attended by several of the 9/11 hijackers and the Fort Hood mass killer Maj. Nidal Hasan. Ms. Thompson's next pray-in target is a mosque in Washington.

...Though neither Ms. Thompson nor Ms. Nomani has been arrested, say, for trespassing, Ms. Nomani—who has been fighting sexism at her mosque in West Virginia for seven years—says she has received several death threats. Such violence-oriented intolerance, which in the West has become the public image of Islam, seems irreconcilably at odds with the moderate feminism of the pray-in group...

Respectfully, Mr. Lankford about CAIR...

I posted a comment on James Lankford's Facebook campaign page about his failure to address his previous remarks about CAIR, an outgrowth of the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas infrastructure in America.  Well, within minutes it was removed.  So I posted another one:

Will it, too, be removed or will James Lankford finally speak out about CAIR in a manner that's knowledgeable instead of so PC or uninformed it's sickening?

I just checked and at around 10:17 AM CT it was remove - meaning my comment was only there less than 20 minutes or so.  Political courage is definitely not a quality of James Lankford who has already demonstrated he is way too PC for a political newbie.

Update 7/30/10:  CAIR Oklahoma Board Chair charged with conspiracy and more regarding mortgage fraud, also includes info that Razi Hasmi the Executive Director is leaving.  What timing!

Terrorist father mulling suit against U.S. government over son, Anwar al-Awlaki

It has been learned that Anwar Awlaki's father, Dr. Nasser al-Awlaki, a U.S. educated scholar (probably paid by us taxpayers) has made a number of phone calls to attorneys in the United States from Yemen, according to NPR:

...The Awlaki pere was making the calls to key U.S. attorneys, NPR has learned, to see if he could mount a case on behalf of his American-born son against the U.S. government. By his account, the Obama administration has unfairly targeted the younger Awlaki by putting him on a CIA "capture or kill" list. By doing that, the administration has essentially green-lighted Anwar al-Awlaki's assassination — without filing any charges or having a court weigh the evidence in the case.

"This is an instance where the executive branch is claiming the power to go ahead and kill Awlaki without going through anything that resembles the traditional legal process," said New York University Law professor Sam Rascoff. "It essentially amounts to going right to the death penalty phase of a case without ever bringing it to a jury — and that ought to give us pause."

...Awlaki was born in New Mexico 39 years ago, when his father was on a scholarship to study in the U.S. Anwar al-Awlaki grew up in the U.S., studied engineering in U.S. universities and eventually became a rather prominent imam in Virginia and San Diego. Then, shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, he left the U.S. and became a fixture on the Internet, preaching to young Muslims in English.

Shortly after the phone calls were made by his father, al-Awlaki was designated a terrorist by the U.S. Treasury Department and then formally recognized by the U.N. as a member of al-Qaeda, just days later. 

An indictment could be next.  And in my opinion, he should also be charged with treason.

Groups claim FBI are bugging Muslims; seek FBI documents

Ok, ok they didn't say it exactly that way but here is what they did say:

The ACLU along with the Asian Law Caucus and the San Francisco Bay Guardian newspaper are requesting information from the FBI about its domestic intelligence and operations guide. They want the public to know how that guide is being used in 29 states including California.

Federal judge rules graduate student can be dismissed for opposing gays

Here's an interesting case which show rigid Biblical beliefs can get you kicked out of grad school:

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed against Eastern Michigan University by a student who was kicked out of its graduate program in school counseling last year for refusing, on religious grounds, to affirm homosexual behavior in serving clients.

In an order granting summary judgment to the university on Monday, Judge George Caram Steeh of the U.S. District Court in Detroit held that the university's requirement that the student be willing to serve people who are homosexual was reasonable, and did not amount to an infringement of the Christian student's constitutional rights to free speech and free expression of religion.

...The Alliance Defense Fund, a coalition of Christian lawyers that is helping to represent the student, Julea Ward, issued a statement on Tuesday saying it plans to appeal the judge's decision.

"Christian students shouldn't be expelled for holding to and abiding by their beliefs," said David French, a senior counsel for the group, which helped out in a similar lawsuit filed against Augusta State University, in Georgia, this month

I don't share the sames views at this student but I am a Christian.  I've known a number of gays over the years and found them to be some of the best and bravest people I've had the privilege of knowing.

Ground Zero Mosque, Cordoba House, too similar to Islamic conquest of Cordoba

Cordoba, Spain was once ruled by Islamic supremacists for hundreds of years.  It was a major Islamic conquest.

AhluBayt News Agency reports that an Islamic TV channel is currently planned in Spain. This station will be funded by Saudi Arabia Risalat-ul-Islam Institute!   The name of the TV station?  Cordoba TV.  The article goes on to explain more about Cordoba, Spain:

Córdoba is a city in Andalusia, southern Spain. In the Middle Ages it was capital of the Islamic caliphate which conquered and ruled Spain for nearly 800 years. During this time Cordoba was one of the largest cities in the world whose name continues to represent a symbol of Islamic conquest to many faithful Muslims around the world.

In another article from May by the same news source about the Ground Zero mosque it claimed there was no opposition to the mosque.

The Cordoba House - that's the name of the Islamic center will be - will stand above the former Burlington Coat Factory building, World Trade Center.

“The Muslim community must provide an opportunity to educate individuals about Islam through education and organized experiences of art, culture, and entertainment,” as quoted from a release.

“We decided we wanted to look at the legacy of 9/11 and do something positive,” said Daisy Khan, the executive director of the American Society for Muslim Advancement.

Initiator of the project, Cordoba Initiative, is now concerned with raising funding at around $100 million.

This will apparently be accomplished smoothly as the initiator said there was no criticism as well as opposition so far, adding that full support of the Cordoba House Islamic center is supported by surrounding Muslim community.

Calling the Ground Zero mosque "Cordoba House" is insensitive and insulting:

Bloggers report on ranches seized in Texas by drug cartel not credible

The AP reported a horrible gun battle took place over the border from Loredo, Texas Friday night but said it didn't spill over to the U.S. side.  However, for some unknown reason several bloggers claimed some ranches near Loredo were seized by a Mexican drug cartel.  These bloggers appear to have made a serious error in judgment and published this information in haste without the proper due diligence and have hurt their credibility.

Michelle Malken wrote about this and gave some weight to Digger’s Realm whom she said was a veteran immigration blogger who wrote about this take over. But, Malken has since updated the headline to state the story about ranches seized was not credible.

Muslim attorney to hold rally for four Christians arrested at Arab festival

How refreshing to see efforts being made to right what appears to be a wrong in Dearborn, Michigan:

A Muslim attorney from Dearborn plans to hold a rally on Monday to express support for the four Christian missionaries arrested last month for allegedly disturbing the peace at an Arab festival.

Majed Moughni said the rights of the four Christians were violated when police arrested them on July 19 during the Arab International Festival, one of the biggest gathering of Arab-Americans in the U.S. The missionaries claim that Islam promotes violence and want to convert Muslims to Christianity.

"They should never have been arrested," said Moughni, who is Arab-American and Muslim. "They have a constitutional right to freedom of speech and religion."

Moughni said that the rights of the missionaries should be respected even if people disagree with their views or aggressive tactics.

...Moughi was the organizer of the anti-terrorism rally in January outside the federal courthouse in Detroit during a hearing for the Christmas Day bomber. After organizing the rally, Moughni received a death threat from a Muslim man in Europe linked to a plot to kill a cartoonist who drew Islam's prophet, Mohammed.

Fired airline employee charges with terrorism

A man, who was fired as a flight attendent after he threw a coffee pot at a co-worker,  seems quite evil because he turned around and retaliated against his former employer by making some pretty serious terrorist threats:

Rodney Lorenzo, 45, was charged in Brooklyn federal court for threatening to give information to jihadists and for making terrorist threats, the New York Post reported Thursday.

Lorenzo mailed letters in 2008 to top American Airline executives with the word, "Boom!!" written on the envelopes. The envelopes contained pages from an employee handbook with instructions on how to access the cockpit, a prosecutor said.

Lorenzo said in the letters he would forward the information to Islamic groups, hoping they would use it against the airline and its passengers.

Pregnant British woman pleads guilty in Alaska terror case

Nadia Rockwood and her husband, Paul, a Muslim convert, join the ever growing list of many others who give the religion of Islam a bad name.  The first terror case of this kind in Alaska will result in the wife being deported and serve probation.  Her husband will be jailed:

...Prosecutors said that Paul, also known as "Bilal", converted to Islam about a decade ago and began following the teachings of the radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who supports violent acts of terrorism against America.

Paul began researching and selecting possible targets for future executions, comprising of people he perceived had desecrated Islam.

After the couple moved to Alaska, he began researching explosive components, construction of remote triggering devices – such as mobile phones – and the construction of mail bombs.

The FBI claimed that by late 2009 he had begun discussing killing "targets" by shooting them in the head. About 15 targets are understood to have been contained in a list drawn up by Rockwood.

Nadia admitted in court that she was aware that her husband wanted to seek revenge and knew the purpose of the list. But when questioned by authorities, she denied delivering the list and instead said it was a book or letter.

Mr. Rockwood plead guilty and will spend about 8 years in jail.

Virginia jihadist boards plane with infant son as cover!

A man from Fairfax, Virginia, who authorities said had several extremist profiles online,  was stopped from boarding a plane in New York with his infant son which he allegedly used to hide that he was really on his way to join a terrorist group:

Zachary Adam Chesser, 20, was prevented from boarding a flight from New York to Uganda on July 10, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. He told agents he intended to travel from Uganda to Somalia.

Chesser attempted to board the flight to Uganda with his son in an attempt to mask his intent to join terrorist group Al-Shabaab in Somalia, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

"This young man is accused of seeking to join Al-Shabaab, a brutal terrorist organization with ties to Al-Qaida," U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride said. "These allegations underscore the need for continued vigilance against homegrown terror threats."

Shirley Sherrod's NAACP speech claims racism over healthcare

Shirley Sherrod's statements at a Georgia NAACP 29th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet in March about helping a white man with their "own kind", and other divisive rhetoric landed her in hot water, as most of you know.  She was asked to resign.  But, was it done in haste?  

I don't know about you but most of us have never been to a meeting, a banquet, a gathering, or even at a friend's house where separatists words like white people, black people, their own kind,  and so on were ever used.  This type of talk disturbs me.

The NAACP claims it has the full version of her speech including her riveting description of the murder of her father by a white man who was never charged.  At the 20:58 second mark you can see the tape is not continuous. The NAACP says this was when the tape was switched to a new one.  Whatever we missed the audience laughed and laughed about it.  

After her talk about the "white farmer" at around the 23:50 minute mark she claimed the healthcare issue was, well,  how can I put it?   I'll just use her own words, instead:

"Now we endured eight years of the Bushes and we didn't do the stuff these Republicans are doing because you have a "black" president."

I did like it, though, when she later said we all have to work together and that she was sad the room where she spoke didn't have any white people.

Update 2:30 PM CT:  Shirley Sherrod Gets White House Apology and all the leftist news outlets are on her side completly ignoring her racist statement about heathcare and continue to blame Fox News who didn't even air anything about Sherrod until after the White House asked her to resign.

Newsweek shills for CAIR and convicted terrorists!

The far-left mouthpiece called Newsweek wrote on their blog a post on June 25th chiding the U.S. government for not helping the five Americans convicted in Pakistan on terror-related charges.  It fully echoed the words of an outed Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas mouthpiece in America; CAIR.

...The U.S. government appears to believe there is "good violence and bad violence," Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on Islamic-American Relations, tells Declassified, noting that the five young Northern Virginia Muslims are likely to remain in jail for a decade, while Colorado construction worker Gary Faulkner, who was arrested while trying to cross from Pakistan into Afghanistan armed with a pistol, sword and night-vision goggles, was quickly released and allowed to return to the U.S. But a senior U.S. official, who asked for anonymity when addressing a politically sensitive issue, retorts, "Rambo [Faulkner] did not leave behind a jihad videotape. There is no comparability to the two cases."

Let me rephrase it a more simpler way. The jihadist are enemies of America!  Faulkner was trying to get an enemy of America.  Big difference,  but CAIR wrongly tried to say our government has a double standard.  Awad, one of the founders of CAIR and is their Executive Director, was recorded at a secret Hamas meetingin Philly in the 90s planning how to conceal their goals to aid Hamas.

Awad attended the first CAIR Oklahoma Muslim Youth Conference last summer.  What a mistake Oklahoma Muslim leaders made to bring CAIR to Oklahoma.

Who is funding the Ground Zero Mosque?

Rep. Pete King was on Fox News a couple of days ago and raised legitimate questions about the proposed ground zero mosque:

There was also a boisterous debate this week from the public who argued this building should be designated a landmark a historic building; Ground Zero Mosque & Landmarks Preservation Commission (Part 1) (video) and not be torn down.   CAIR New York Board President Zead Ramadan called the opposition (video) to the mosque Islamophobia at the meeting (yawn).

About an hour ago, the NAACP tweeted they were holding a press conference on the web about their stance on the Tea Party after passing a resolution behind close doors yesterday.

Also tweeting the same thing was NAACP president, Ben Jealous. But, the press conference was anything but about the tea party!

Congressional candidate Kevin Calvey rejects donation made by CAIR Oklahoma Director

How odd that Razi Hashmi, the director of CAIR's chapter in Oklahoma made an online contribution to Oklahoma 5th district congressional candidate, Kevin Calvey, a strong and accurate critic of this Islamist organization.  The donation for $25 was made June 10th but was rejected by Calvey or his staff.  Hashmi acknowledged today he made the contribution but gave no explanation, per an article in Roll Call (requires subscription).

CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper tried, foolishly, to claim Calvey's concerns about CAIR was "bashing Muslims." Every time he or anyone from his Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas linked organization says this, the more often we see their dishonest attempt to link all Muslims to CAIR. 

CAIR is not all Muslims.

Jihadists now have new magazine to help them prepare for violence against Americams

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) introduced a new English language magazine (Critical Threats website) on Sunday.  In their first issue,  American born cleric and partner Anwar al-Awlaki issued a fatwa against a Seattle cartoonist and others.

The magazine includes instructions on bomb-making from ingredients from "mom's kitchen".  Al-Qaeda leader AQAP Nasser al Wahayshi, also known as Abu Basir, called on Muslims to pursue violent jihad against the West. 

O Muslims, rise up in defense of your Messenger: a man with his knife, a man with his gun, a man with his rifle, a man with his bomb, by learning how to design explosive devices, by burning down forests and buildings, or by running over them with your cars and trucks. The means of harming them are many so seek assistance from Allah and do not be weak and you will find a way. The rights of the Messenger of Allah upon us are great and it is nothing for all of us to die for his sake; may our mothers be bereaved of us if we do not defend him.

O Muslims you have no excuse in front of Allah except if you fight in defense of his Messenger…

The purpose of the magazine appears to provide tools and encourage jihadists to take matters in their own hands right here in America rather than risk travel over to Yemen for training.

I found the above graphic of the Al Qaeda magizene from a blog by American graduate student, Christopher Anzalone, in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at Indiana University.  This "student" also has the first edition of the al Qaeda magazine, which I found very difficult to find.  He links to the Muslim Brotherhood website and hadiths on violent jihad and so on.  Hummm...

University of Illinois fired Christian professor over comment but ignored anti-American Islamist professor

The University of Illinois fired, or didn't renew the contract, of a Christian professor by the name of Dr. Ken Howell for his comments about church teachings on homosexuality (which I disagree, for the record) but they won't touch Jaleel Abdul-Adil, a professor of clinical psychology there who is affilated with the Islamic supremacist group Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) who has spoken out about the need to end our democracy and replace it with Islamic rule!  This professor seeks the end of our government,  which is a treasonist act to me.

Anyway, during the Q & A at HT's first anti-American pro-calipahte conference last year, Abdul-Adil was asked if shari'a, or Islamic law, would trump the U.S. Constitution. "Yes, it would be gone," Abdul-Adil replied."  and that every Muslim should use their skills in the struggle for an Islamic caliphate.  

What a blatant and disturbing double standard.  Now, that's a story the leftist media won't touch.

Another American indicted in failed New York subway plot: "We love death!"

The failed New York subway bomb plot last year has resulted in another indictment against an American who loved his Islamist world more than the freedoms we value so much here or life, itself. 

Isn't it amazing there is a never ending supply of these people?  The Muslim world is failing their own.

Three U.S. citizens have already been charged with plotting a series of suicide bombings on the New York subway during rush hour that would have taken place days after the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Najibullah Zazi and Zarein Ahmedzay, both Afghan immigrants, pleaded guilty this year.

Bosnian-born Adis Medunjanin pleaded not guilty and is waiting for his day in court.

Adnan Shukrijumah, a U.S. citizen who was regarded as one of Al Qaeda's best hopes to execute a plot in post- 9/11 America, is among several new alleged Al Qaeda figures charged in the botched Manhattan attempt.  Two others indicted Wednesday, Abid Naseer and Tariq Ur Rehman, are also allegedly connected to the attack that was planned for English soil.

... The  indictment alleges that after Zazi was taken into custody, Medunjanin tried again to complete a suicide attack. On Jan. 7, he crashed his car into another vehicle in Queens, N.Y., dialing 911 moments before to state his name and his motives, authorities said.

"We love death," he told the 911 operator, according to the indictment.

Germany-based IHH banned for funding Hamas

Today Germany banned an Islamic charity their believe funds Hamas, who seeks the total destruction of Isreal for Islam.

Authorities believe the Internationale Humanitaere Hilfsorganisation (IHH), which is registered in Frankfurt, has been funneling financial donations to Hamas which controls the Gaza Strip and is considered a terrorist organization by the European Union and
United States.

"The IHH has, under the cover of humanitarian aid, supported Gaza Strip-based so-called social associations which are attributable to Hamas, for a long period of time and to a considerable financial extent," de Maiziere said in a statement.

CNN omits controverisal facts about Islamic Society of North America

The Islamic Society of North America held their annual conference over the 4th of July weekend.  CNN sent their own Soraya Salam to report on the conference.

...The highlight of the convention was Saturday night’s main session, featuring high-profile speakers like world-renowned intellectual Tariq Ramadan, Ingrid Mattson, Sheikh Hamza Yusuf and Ali Gomaa, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, one of the highest spiritual leaders in Sunni Islam.

CNN failed to provided important facts about this highly controverisal organization right on the heels of having to fire their Senior Editor for MidEast Affairs for prasing a Hezbollah leader who was a designated terrorist.  First, it didn't mention the conference was held over the 4th of July weekend.  Something that is not unusal for many Muslims who do not relate to our cherished patriotic holiday since it is likely considered anti-Islamic.

Nor were readers informed they was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror funding case.  Holy Land was the largest Islamic charity in America.  ISNA filed in court to have their named removed.  But, federal prosecutors responded that  "numerous exhibits were entered into evidence establishing both ISNA’s and NAIT’s (North American Islamic Trust) intimate relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood, the Palestine Committee, and the defendants in this case'.  See GOVERNMENT’S MEMORANDUM IN OPPOSITION TO PETITIONERS ISLAMIC SOCIETY OF NORTH AMERICA AND NORTH AMERICAN ISLAMIC TRUST’S MOTION FOR EQUITABLE RELIEF, pg 2. 

The point here is that Americans must spend more time studying the Muslim Brotherhood, these organizations, related court documents, evidence, and their leaders own words and actions over time.

CAIR issues travel advisory for American Muslims - appeals to President Obama!

CAIR, an outgrowth of the Islamic supremacist Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas infrastructure in America,  actively works against the United States government on national security measures.  Today, they issued a travel advisory warning American Muslims about traveling overseas because the big bad FBI might mistreat them and force them in exile,  In their press release, CAIR Travel Advisory Warns U.S. Muslims of 'Forced Exile', they appealed to President Obama.

Below a disturbing video that lays out the goals of one Islamic supremacist group in America.  Hizb ut-Tahrir reared its ugly head publically after the 2008 presidential elections.  The good news is they had to reschedule the conference for a new date uncertain because the Mariott Hotel backed out as being the host, per the Chicago Tribune.  They claimed they are misunderstood but their documents and videos on their website make it very clear they want Islamic rule to replace the American constitution.  They should be run out of the country.  For the Tribune to then quote CAIR as a credible source is totally laughable.  This group was founded by members of the Islamic supremacist Muslim Brotherhood!

Georgia man charged with arson at mosque he attended.

Last night,  a Georgia man was arrested on complaints of 1st degree arson to the mosque he attended after he apparently set it afire. 

Prior to his arrest,  CAIR claimed in a press release it was anti-Muslim bigotry.  Now what will they say?

Nothing???

James Lankford campaign commerical omits he was a summer camp youth director!

The new commercial for 5th district congressional hopeful James Lankford failed to fully tell the viewers - you know - those who might vote for him that he was a director of a Baptist youth summer camp.  For some reason, he just sort-of skips over that part by saying he was the director of Falls Creek - leaving off the full explaination that this was a Baptist summer youth camp.

Is it me, or does Mr. Lankford seem to be less than forthcoming?

Update 7/8/10:  The New York Times reports Nasr, a 20 year veteran at CNN,  was canned today.  She'll probably show up on Al Jazeera soon.

Also the British Ambassador to Lebonon praised his passing, too.

Hamas spy and Christian convert granted asylum

The son of a key Hamas leader was granted asylum in the U.S., yesterday.   Raised a Muslim, Masab Hassan Yousef, converted to Christianity and wrote he would be killed because he spied for Israel in his application for asylum.

Over a year ago, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security ruled that Mosab Hassan Yousef should be denied asylum because he has “engaged” in terrorist activity” and is a “danger to the security of the United States.”

On Wednesday, however, Homeland Security officials indicated they were prepared to grant Yousef asylum, taking back their initial intention, after claiming to have received new information which brought a new view on the case.

In a statement following Wednesday's ruling, the pro-Israel think-tank EMET, who had aided Youself in his attempts to be granted asylum, said that they were "enormously grateful to all those who played a part in standing with Mosab during this time, and helping the Department of Homeland Security come to understand what a grave error deporting Mosab would have been."

The son of one of Hamas' founders argued before Judge Rico Bartolomei at the San Diego court that he will be killed if he is deported because he spied on the militant group for the Shin Bet security's intelligence agency for ten years and abandoned Islam for Christianity.
