Possible quadruple honour killing in Canada

There may have been a quadruple honor killing in Canada on June 30th. One report notes oldest canal victim feared for her life: siblings:

Siblings of the woman who died in a Rideau Canal lock near Kingston, Ont., told CBC News on Friday that their sister, Rona Amir Mohammed, feared for her life at one point in the days leading up to her death. Wali Abdali and Diba Masoomi, who live in France, are the brother and sister of Rona Mohammed, 50, who was found dead in a submerged car on June 30, along with three other female victims: sisters Zainab Shafia, 19, Sahar Shafia, 17, and Geeti Shafia, 13, of Montreal's Saint-Léonard district. The sisters' father, Mohammad Shafia, their mother, Tooba Mohammad Yehya, and their 18-year-old brother, Hamid Mohammad Shafia, have been charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the four deaths.

Did you hear or read about this from any main-stream media?

Canadian found guilty in honour killing of sister and fiance

A young Muslim man in Canada will spend the next 25 years in jail for killing his sister and her fiance to restore the honor of his family:

A “twisted sense of values” led an Ottawa man to murder his sister and the man she loved, the judge in an honour killing trial said Saturday.

“You put your own self-esteem over those of your own sister and the young man she had chosen to become her life partner,” Ontario Superior Court Justice Douglas Rutherford told an expressionless Hasibullah Sadiqi. “And consigning them to partnership in death has shocked and bewildered every community in the nation’s capital. The forfeiture of your liberty for the rest of your life seems only just.”

...Prosecutor Mark Moors said Sadiqi was motivated by a “perverted notion of honour and respect … for the sole purpose of restoring the family’s reputation and respect in the Afghan community...”

Federal court in Canada nixes Sharia law divorce

The federal court in Canada ruled against recognizing an Islamic divorce in a case recently which has made the news.  Although, this article states a couple can divorce each other in Islam by just saying "I divorce you" three times, it is usually only the man who is allowed to do this and not the woman.

No religion should ever be allowed to determine their own laws in Canada, or America or any other democratic society.  We should be on the lookout for Islamic organizations who make it part of their politics or political agenda to push this foward:

"Muslims in the GTA are monitoring the case of a Toronto woman whose bid to sponsor a new husband to Canada was nixed because a religious "talaq" divorce of her first spouse is not recognized in Ontario.

Hoda Hussein Hazimeh claims a "talaq" divorce with ex-husband Ali Hammoud conducted under Sharia law and registered in Lebanon should be recognized here so she can sponsor her second husband, Hafez Farhat.

But federal court disagreed and ruled against her.

A talaq divorce under Sharia law can be performed on the telephone. In it, the couple repeat "I divorce you" three times in front of community leaders and witnesses.

"This decision can have a huge impact on those who practise Sharia law or religious marriages," said Hazimeh's lawyer, Edward Corrigan.

"Many people will be impacted if these divorces are not recognized in Canada."

Federal immigration officials have been getting tough on those practising talaq marriages and divorces, Corrigan said.

"They (immigration) have been challenging religious divorces much more vigorously than in the past," Corrigan said..."

American and British goverment severe ties with large Islamic organizations

Last fall five Muslim defendants were found guilty of sending millions of dollars to the terror group Hamas through the largest Muslim charity in America, the Holy Land Foundation.  A number of Islamic organizations and individuals were named as unindicted co-conspirators in the case, including CAIR, the North American Islamic Trust and the Islamic Society of North American.  Each are large national organizations not just small one or two person groups.

Individuals named included Jamal Badawi, the person chosen by the Islamic Society of Tulsa to represent them as their Quranic expert, Yusef Qaradawi, the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, and a pediatrician in Ponca City, Dr. Ahmad Agha, to name a few.  In total nearly 300 Islamic organizations and individuals were identified.  No one has been removed from the list.

The names of unindicted co-conspirators are not usually made public unless the government believes the public has an overwhelming need to know.  In this case, the government made the correct decision to inform us of the extensive Islamist network in our country.   

Following the guilty verdicts the FBI made a decision not to outreach to CAIR anymore, since its beginnings were tied directly to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas. How strong their alliance to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas is today the 64 million question.  This issue has not been resolved fully to satisfy the FBI, at this point. 

Conclusion?  There appears to be a large and extensive Islamic network in place in the U.S.

Now, let's go across the ocean to Britain, a major ally, where today the government severed ties with the largest Muslim group there - the Muslim Council of Britain:

"The government has suspended ties with Britain's largest Muslim group and demanded that one of its leaders should be removed from office for allegedly supporting violence against Israel.

...The launch tomorrow of Contest 2, the government's revised counter-terrorism strategy, comes after ministers decided to stop engaging with the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB).

The council's deputy secretary-general, Daud Abdullah, signed a declaration last month that the government and critics of the MCB have interpreted as calling for violence against Israel and condoning attacks on British troops.

The declaration followed a meeting in Istanbul of clerics and other Muslim leaders from around the world to discuss strategy after Israel's attacks on Gaza..."

Isn't it interesting, yet quite alarming, these large national Islamic organizations the American and British governments once felt vital to build better Muslim relations have resulted in severed ties?

It's a major wake up call.

Canadian Muslim held by the Taliban, begs for her life.

A Canadian Muslim by the name of Khadija Abdul Qahar, who was previously known as Beverly Giesbrecht, is a journalist against the U.S. war on terror.  She operates what appears to be, in part, a pro-jihadist website called Jihad Unspun. 

She has a section for the martyrs of Iraq and a section for Bin Laden's network where she posted an interview with the spokesman for the leader of the Taliban.  Although, there is a disclaimer, she, in fact,  gave a voice to this terrorist group.

Yet, none of this stopped the Taliban from kidnapping her last November in Pakistan and time is supposedly running out for her.  

This post 9/11 Islamic convert begged for help in a recent video in hopes the Taliban will not behead her at the end of the month.

Canadian Arab Federation loses federal money

Bad news for a Arab organization in Canada whose director called some public officials whores at a rally in January (see video below). 

It didn't help either that this group also supported the terrorist groups, Hamas and Hezbollah. 

"The federal government is slashing funding to the Canadian Arab Federation, citing the group's "objectionable" comments as well as its support for Hamas and Hezbollah.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada served notice Wednesday to federation president Khaled Mouammar that a contract to provide language training for new immigrants in one of Toronto's poorest neighbourhoods will not be renewed when it expires at the end of the month.

The two-year contract was worth $2.1 million. A second contract, worth $474,873, expires in 2010.

"Serious concerns have arisen with respect to certain public statements that have been made by yourself or other officials of the CAF," wrote Rick Stewart, the department's associate assistant deputy minister of operations. "These statements have included the promotion of hatred, anti-Semitism and support for the banned terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah."

Muslim woman fighting Toronto court order to show her face in court

At some point, it will be necessary for the West to determine if Muslim women, who only want to show their eyes, are really following a religious mandate.  If it is one in Islam, then all Muslim women would be wearing this oppressive looking attire.

Yet, there is no verse in the Quran that says a woman has to cover their hair, or her face, that I am aware.

"A motion put forward by a woman fighting a court order requiring her to testify without a religious veil will be heard in a few weeks.

Arguments were to be heard in a Toronto court today, but the case was put over to March 25 and 27.

The case is believed to be the first of its kind in Canada. The woman, an alleged sexual assault victim, wanted to wear her niqab during the suspect's trial last fall. The veil, worn by Muslim women, covers the entire face except the eyes.

Observers call it a case that pits religious beliefs against the right of defendants to face their accusers.

Unlike in the U.S., the Canadian Constitution does not guarantee the right of accused people to face their accusers in court, but it's been a practice in Canadian common law.

CAIR Canada seeks to bring enemy combatant to Canada

Here's an excellent example how Islamists work with the far left:

"Advocates seeking the return of Guantanamo detainee Omar Khadrsought to pressure the Conservative government today with the release of a letter signed by 185 groups and individuals, representing a range of Canadian community leaders, academics, human rights advocates and civil liberties organizations.

Khadr, a Canadian citizen charged in the death of a U.S. army medic during a gunfight in Afghanistan, is the only remaining Westerner still imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay, the military prison that U.S. President Barack Obama is shutting down.

An open letter released today by the Canadian Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN) urges Prime Minister Stephen Harper to respond to the move by Obama with an offer to repatriate Khadr in order to rehabilitate him and re-integrate him into Canadian society.

The letter is copied to the leaders of the three Opposition parties as well

..."Silence is no longer an option. We believe that your inaction with regards to this important case, compared to your active involvement in other cases (such as the repatriation of Brenda Martin from Mexico), has been, rightly or wrongly, interpreted by the Muslim community as indicative that your government considers Canadian Muslims to be second-class citizens."

Elementary school in Canada bans national anthem to accomodate two families

Want to venture a guess as to what parents objected to the daily singing of the Canadian National Anthem at an elementary school in New Brunswick?  

But we shouldn't overlook the fact that the principal of the school, Erik Millett, is a Green Party member.

"Every time Susan Boyd hears the Canadian national anthem, she thinks of her nephew, Pte. David Greenslade of Saint John, who was killed two years ago in Afghanistan.

And it devastates her that her youngest daughter doesn't start each morning at Belleisle Elementary School paying tribute to her home and native land.

The school eliminated the morning ritual in September 2007 after complaints by two families who took issue with the anthem.

Erik Millett is principal of the small school of 214 students in Springfield, west of Sussex, and has heard from only a few people who oppose the decision to drop the anthem..."  times&transript

Swissair flight 111 remembered ten years later

On September 2, 1998, Swissair flight 111 left New York City and crashed off the coast of Nova Scotia killing all 229 on board.  A fire was blamed for the horrific accident. 

Ten years later, a memorial was held.  Guess who led the "call to prayer"?  Muslim Brotherhood leader, Jamal Badawi!  I'm stunned.  This is a man who approves of martyrdom according to Islamic law.

Badawi is really quite open about his association with this global Islamic supremacy organization, if you are paying attention.  He serves on the board of directors for the Muslim Association of Canada which openly states their beliefin the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood and it founder, Hassam Al-Banna:

"...MAC adopts and strives to implement Islam, as embodied in the Qur’an, and the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and as understood in its contemporary context by the late Imam, Hassan Albanna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. MAC regards this ideology as the best representation of Islam as delivered by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)..."  

Badawi also serves on several boards where Muslim Brotherhood Spiritual Leader, Yusef Qaradwi is the chairman.

It's the complacency of Americans and Canadians who are ignoring the infiltration of these people in our society along with lacks immigration laws and poor media coverage.

Why is Egypt appointing the new Imam at a Canada mosque?

This is disturbing because the Imam comes from Al-Azhar Univeristy which is well-known for its extremeist views.  This does not send a good message to North America: 

The Egyptian government has named 33-year-old Islamic scholar Khalid Abdul-Hamid Syed as the new imam of the Ottawa Mosque - and spiritual leader of the city's Muslims, the Citizen has learned.  

An e-mail announcing his appointment to community leaders says Imam Syed "is qualified and trained to serve in an English-speaking community." And he is described as being "anxious to come to Ottawa as soon as possible" to begin his ministry.

The appointment, made in response to a request from the Ottawa Muslim Association, is for an initial term of one year, which could be extended to three years if the two sides agree. Imam Syed, who is married and has a young child, is expected to arrive in Ottawa within a month, in time for Ramadan, which starts at the beginning of September.

Imam Syed will serve in Ottawa under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Religious Affairs (Awqaaf), which runs an international program that sends scholars from the renowned Al-Azhar University to Muslim communities abroad that need qualified imams.

Police conclude Aqsa Parvez killed for not wearing Islamic headscarf

Yet another story about the cruel nature that seems to go hand in hand with Islam that took the life of a a teenage girl who will never know what it is like to fall in love or have a child or be a mother:

Canadian police have concluded that both the father and brother of 16-year old Pakistani girl Aqsa Parvez killed her for her “crime” of not wishing to wear a hijab. Aqsa Parvez was murdered last year by her father, a cab driver, and, it now appears, with the aid of her own brother. Tarek Fatah, a leader of progressive Muslim opinion in Canada and the author of a widely-praised book on liberal Islam, said in a comment, “For not wearing a hijab, young Aqsa was murdered, and instead of getting angry at the father and brother who are accused of planning the murder by luring the runaway teenager back to her home, leaders of the conservative and Orthodox Muslim community made excuses and gave explanations, spilling anger at the media and moderate Muslims, rather than at the two men charged with murder. At the time, I had said that this appeared to be a case of an honour killing, but we found few other Muslim leaders willing to slam the father, mother, sister and brother, who either joined hands in killing the young girl, or sat passively as the men of the family restored the 'family honour'.”  DailyTimes

Naturally, Islamic leaders say this killing has nothing to do with Islam:

Islam condemns violence and teaches adherents not to force their beliefs upon others, Sheik Alaa El-Sayyed, imam at Mississauga's Islamic Society of North America, told a news conference in the suburban city west of Toronto that was once home to Aqsa Parvez. [...]

"The bottom line is, it's a domestic violence issue," El-Sayyed said.

Major Islamic terror trial starts in Canada

Our Canadian neighbors will be following closly the trial of Mohammed Momin Khawaja, the first Canadian charged with terrorism.  Americans need to be aware of how well Canada deals with prosecuting alleged Islamic terrorist - for obvious reasons.

Mohammed Momin Khawaja, 29, was arrested in March 2004 in connection with an alleged terror cell in Britain, the Globe and Mail reported. The software designer faces seven charges related to allegedly making fertilizer bombs and keeping three rifles under his bed in his parents' home, the report said.

The five British men were convicted and sentenced to life-in-prison terms and some of the testimony about Khawaja's alleged involvement is likely to become part of the Canadian trial.

The trial, which is expected to last at least six months, is the most secure ever in Ottawa, officials said. Snipers, explosives-sniffing dogs, security barriers and metal detectors were put in place in and around the courthouse, although there was no known specific threat, the newspaper said.

Author Mark Steyn confronts some of his Islamic critics

Author of "American Alone", Mark Steyn was interview on TVO TV, Ontario's public educational channel,  a couple days ago. 

Here's a quick background:  In December 2007, complaints were filed against Macleans Magazine after the Canadian weekly news magazine published a cover article by Steyn, "The Future Belongs to Islam". A complaint to the Ontario Human Rights Commission was made by Osgoode Law School students associated with the Canadian Islamic Congress. Further complaints to the British Columbian and the federal Human Rights Commissions were lodged by Mohamed Elmasry and Naiyer Habib of the Canadian Islamic Congress.  The complaints claimed that Macleans published a series of nineteen articles (eight by Steyn; seven by Barbara Amiel) with characteristics that promoted Islamophobia and that Maclean's simultaneously refused to allow representative Muslim organizations and voices to rebut the anti-Muslim and Islamophobic content of its articles, particularly Steyn's “The Future belongs to Islam”.

On May 9th, Canada.com reported:

The B.C. Human Rights Tribunal has agreed to hear a complaint brought against Maclean's magazine by a consortium of Muslim law students.

The complaint originates from a Maclean's article that quotes from columnist Mark Steyn's bestselling book, America Alone -- The End of the World as We Know It. It is alleged that the passages in question defame Muslims.

The Ontario Human Rights Commission acknowledged it lacked jurisdiction to hear the case, then issued a press release declaring Maclean's and Steyn guilty anyway.

There was no hearing, no evidence presented and no opportunity to offer a defence -- just a pronouncement of wrongdoing.

A complaint was also laid with the Canadian Human Rights Commission, one that has yet to be ruled on.

Islamic convert walks out of own trial - won't recognize Canadian law.

Since Islamists believe Islamic rule is far superior to any man-made law it makes sense this Muslim said what he did in court this week:

An Islamic convert facing terrorism charges was re-arrested after trying to walk out of his own trial Tuesday – saying simply that “I'm outta here” – after telling the court he wouldn't recognize Canadian law.

The 20-year-old, who can't be identified because he was underage at the time of his arrest two years ago, had been released on bail. But he spent last night in jail, and his legal future is unclear.

At the time proceedings broke down, a police officer had been on the stand, and the court was discussing the young man's mental status, including whether he was suicidal.

The only youth among 11 Torontonians accused of a variety of conspiracies is also the only suspect whose case has got to its trial phase. He faces charges of attending a terrorist training camp. The court has heard only preliminary motions so far, and has yet to delve into evidence or testimony.

Saluting martyrs in Canada

Increasingly, death threats and hate-filled words are being hurled at the Canadian press and officials.  Guess where it's coming from?

In the article, the reporter talks about threats made to herself, as well.  Ironically, the article was published on World Press Freedom Day.

In the past year, I, my colleague Terry Milewski of the CBC, and several people we have interviewed condemning the glorification of violence by a tiny minority of Sikh separatists in Canada have received threats to our lives.

Liberal MP Ujjal Dosanjh was called a "blood traitor" who should be killed after he was interviewed in both The Vancouver Sun and in a CBC documentary about violent imagery in the 2007 Vaisakhi parade in Surrey.

...A young North Delta high school student recently urged, on a Facebook page portraying Milewski as a Nazi with "Sikh" blood dripping from his lips:

"Let's find out were he lives and put hiz (sic) head on a stick."

Hostile comments on some radio stations have also been repeatedly levelled against Liberal MLA Dave Hayer for his tireless commentary against the same small group of extremists that he believes were behind the assassination 10 years ago of his journalist father Tara Singh Hayer.

...Despite the increasing vitriol, I was still startled two months ago to find a photo of myself posted on a Facebook page that had been started a few days earlier to attack me. A bullet hole had been photo-shopped onto my forehead, blood dripping from the wound, my left eye sliced open and more blood flowing from my nose and mouth.

It had been posted March 11 by a young man who identified himself as Raj Singh and said he lived in Toronto. After consulting a couple of colleagues, who said they sure thought the picture was a threat, I contacted the RCMP and a criminal investigation began.

..."I know the world of those threats is real and it is not like the rest of the world in Canada," Dosanjh said. "I think that people don't understand because it is painful. It is painful to think that in Canada there are people -- journalists and others -- who are not able to exercise their freedom . . . without threats."

Muslim drops complaint against Ezrz Levant

Interesting news today from Canada:

Calgary Muslim leader Syed Soharwardy says he is withdrawing his Alberta Human Rights Commission complaint against former Western Standard publisher Ezra Levant.

The complaint was launched in February, 2006, after the Western Standard and the Jewish Free Press reprinted cartoons from a Danish newspaper that many in the Muslim world felt insulted the Prophet Muhammad. The cartoons sparked violent protests in a number of countries.

"Over the two years that we have gone through the process, I understand that most Canadians see this as an issue of freedom of speech, that that principle is sacred and holy in our society," said Mr. Soharwardy, president of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada.

"I believe Canadian society is mature enough not to absorb the messages that the cartoons sent. Only a very small fraction of Canadian media decided to publish those cartoons."

Mr. Levant said he isn't buying Mr. Soharwardy's promise, calling it a "temporary, tactical truce."

"I don't believe him. He thought this would be easy to do, just sic the human rights commission on me and it would be done. But I decided to fight back," Mr. Levant said.

Mr. Levant said he plans to launch a civil lawsuit against Mr. Soharwardy to recover the tens of thousands of dollars he said he has spent battling the complaint.

I applaud these women in Canada who are standing up to the inferior treatment they alleged they received at their mosque.  If only this would happen at every mosque in the world!  Of course, in reality this can only happen in countries where freedom of expression is allowed which would exclude all Islamic countries who keep their citizens in bondage to Islam either by laws or traditions.

Three Calgary Muslim women have filed a human rights complaint against a local imam, alleging they were treated unfairly at a recent meeting.

Qasira Shaheen, Robina Butt and Shugufta Iftikhar say they were discriminated against by Syed Soharwardy at an open house in November at the Al-Madinah Calgary Islamic Centre.

"We were discriminated against as women and were treated poorly, differently, negatively and adversely," they wrote in the complaint, filed in December with the Canadian Human Rights Commission.

They claim they weren't allowed to ask questions, were physically and verbally threatened, were made to sit in the back of the hall and were eventually forced to leave.

Shaheen said the women attended the meeting to ask questions about donations made to the mosque.

She said the women decided to launch the complaint because they feel they were treated unfairly and "differently from men" at the meeting.

"It's just to get justice," she said.

The incident at the centre was videotaped and a DVD was included with the human rights complaint.

Soharwardy was unavailable for comment on Saturday.

However, he is quoted in the Washington Times, a daily newspaper in Washington D.C., as denying any abuses and saying he supports women's rights in Canada's Islamic community.

He alleged the women's husbands - his "enemies in the mosque" - put them up to the complaint.

Iftikhar's husband, Iftikhar Ahmed, who was at the meeting, said the complaint was necessary to protect women's rights in the local Muslim community. He said he supports the women's actions.

"There's not any difference for women," he said. "I just want (Soharwardy) in the general public to apologize to the women."

As well, Butt's husband, Najeeb Butt, added he has no personal fight against Soharwardy.

"These women had serious questions about the mosque committee and possible misuse of funds. And they were not permitted to participate as equal members of the Muslim community."

Soharwardy, national president of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada, launched his own human rights complaint in December.

He said comments on a blog on the website of the defunct Western Standard magazine promote hatred against Muslims. Soharwardy's complaint is with the Alberta Human Rights Commission.

The magazine's former publisher, Ezra Levant, appeared before the commission in January. The Islamic Supreme Council of Canada launched a human rights complaint after the former magazine's 2006 publication of a series of Danish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.

Canadian Islamist, Salman Hossain, post incitement for terrorism on Internet

I read in disbelief the Canada's Anti-Terrorism Act does not make inciting terrorism a crime.  While Canada wants to allow free speech, I think the voice of reason says promoting or inciting the death of others is NOT free speech. 

A Toronto-area man has been posting messages on the Internet supporting attacks against Canadian soldiers on Canadian soil, drawing the attention of RCMP national security investigators.

Police have advised the Bangladeshi-Canadian that he is under investigation for incitement and facilitating terrorism after he repeatedly called the killing of Canadian troops in Canada "legitimate" and "well deserved."

No charges have been laid, but counterterrorism officers are apparently taking it seriously, and the case has set off a debate inside government over where to draw the line between free expression and incitement.

"The promotion of hate and violence has no place in Canadian society, and it is an offence under the Criminal Code," Stockwell Day, the Minister of Public Safety, responded when shown a sample of the postings. "Our government carefully balances the right to freedom of expression with our duty to protect Canadians from harm."

Alarm bells about the online writings went off last September after German authorities arrested three Islamic militants accused of planning to bomb the Ramstein Air Base and Frankfurt International Airport.

That same day, Salman Hossain posted several messages about the plot on the comment board of a Toronto-based Internet site where he is a frequent contributor.

Although Mr. Hossain claimed in one of his communications with the National Post that he made the comments in a private online chat room, the messages can easily be viewed by anyone using a simple Google search.

Despite being visited by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and RCMP and told he was under investigation, Mr. Hossain has continued to post messages approving of attacks on Canadian troops.

He rails at police, saying "you can't charge me for possessing a thought" and writes that he "honestly got a kick outta pissing off the RCMP … HAHAHA … i was laughing my ass off for provoking the RCMP."

The case comes as Canadian security agencies are struggling to deal with extremism among a minority of Muslim Canadians, particularly youths. Intelligence analysts believe much of this radicalization is occurring on the Internet.

Canada's Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) does not specifically outlaw incitement of terrorism, although such a measure has been discussed by MPs.

He said that while there was no guarantee a criminal case would succeed, prosecutors might want to go ahead anyway, if only to send a message that "you can't openly advocate the murder of Canadian soldiers.

Middle East Sharia Law against criticizing Islam seeks enforcement in Canada

Blogger Iowahawk has published a spoof about the Alberta Human Right Commission and their investigation of Ezra Levant, who had a complaint filed against him by a couple Canadian Muslims who seek to impose strick Sharia law that is in the Middle East which forbid criticizng the Koran and Islam. 

While Iowahawk is making fun of this case, it really highlights a major assault against free speech.  Many believe the West is in danger of losing their free speech rights if Western countries bow to  Middle East values and Sharia Law:

The tables turn on Syed Soharwardy

From the blog of Ezra Levant, the Canadian journalist who had human rights charges filed against him by Syed Soharwardy and other Muslims, I found a most interesting post today.  Levant, these Muslims had claimed,  had incited hate against Muslims. 

Well, Levant turned the tables on Soharwardy, a bit.  Soharwardly is now on the receiving end of a discrimination complaint filed against him by the women of his mosque! 

As I've written before, there's an incongruity to rough men like Mohamed Elmasry and Syed Soharwardy filing human rights complaints. Elmasry has publicly declared that any adult Jew in Israel is a legitimate target for a terrorist attack. When he's not egging on violence, though, his delicate sensibilities can be hurt by Maclean's magazine. Hey, terror advocates have feelings, too!

Syed Soharwardy, one of the complainants in my case, is a proponent of sharia law -- the legal system that governs Saudi Arabia, where rape victims get sentenced to the lash for their immodesty.  Soharwardy is made of stern stuff when he's telling Saudi -- and Canadian women -- their proper place. But he, too, has his soft side. In his case, our publication of some cartoons turned that stern task-master into a river of tears.

...Well, in the case of Soharwardy, it appears that he himself is the subject of a human rights complaint -- for discrimination against women. There's a shocker. It was filed with the Edmonton and Ottawa offices of the Canadian Human Rights Commission.

Some women in his mosque allege that:

Brilliant, simply brilliant!  Not only because of the findings of Levant but because of the brave actions of these women.

Pro Hezbollah billboard in Canada

This news is from August but I just came across it.  In Windsor, Canada a billboard showing support for Hezbollah's leaders outraged a number of people.  I think I can see why.

It's a possible sign of encroaching Islamism, I suspect from some of our neighbors up North.

                                                                                              

Members of the Jewish and Lebanese Christian communities in Windsor are outraged by the appearance of a billboard that appears to promote Hezbollah -- an organization the Canadian government considers terrorist.

"That organization is banned in Canada," said Harvey Kessler, executive director of the Windsor Jewish Community Centre. "How can that billboard be up in Windsor when it represents a terrorist organization which is banned under the laws of Canada?"

Located at the southwest corner of Marion Avenue and Wyandotte Street East, the billboard does not mention Hezbollah by name, but features a central image of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the controversial political and military group that represents Lebanese Shia Muslims and has clashed with Israeli troops for more than 20 years. 

Printed in English on the left side of the billboard are the words: "Lebanese and Arab communities in Windsor city congratulate the Lebanese people for their steadfastness and endeavor to establish peace in Lebanon."

But Nabbout said that Arabic writing which appears on the right side of the billboard does not match the English translation. According to Nabbout, the Arabic writing makes a reference to fighting.

"What they mean by 'fight' is basically 'guerrilla' -- using arms and weapons," Nabbout said. "Basically, there is a very specific word... That is a definite difference between the Arabic and the English."

Contacted on Friday night, Mayor Eddie Francis said he was made aware of the billboard earlier in the day. Asked if he is concerned about its presence, Francis said: "The politics of Lebanon belong in Lebanon, not on the streets of Windsor."     The Windsor Star

In a followup article the Windsor Star interviewed those who put up the billboard who seem bent to use freedom to destroy freedom. 

"In Canada we want peace," said Hussein Dabaja, a Lebanese-born Hezbollah supporter. "We're not trying offend anybody. We have freedom of speech. It's a free country. We can do anything. Every Lebanese in Canada has somebody that died in Lebanon, the freedom fighters. Who is Hezbollah? Our brothers, our family, our parents, our friends. We came to Canada and they stayed there to fight."

Dabaja said the billboard was not meant to be an anti-Jewish statement.

"People who have something against the billboard don't like Hezbollah and they don't want peace," he said.The whole community is not going to let anybody take it down," said Dabaja. "It's going to stay up until the last minute. If someone comes to take it down, they're ready to fight for it, to protect it to be up there. We're not trying to offend anybody."

The billboard which was put up on a Friday was removed the following Monday despite threats that the billboard would not be allowed to be removed without a fight. 

But questions still remain why any billboard company would allow a designated terrorist group to be the subject of a billboard.  CBS Outdoors – the billboard’s owner, and a subsidiary of Viacom and CBS in America – may have helped the Jihadist agenda.  You can see the CBS logo at the bottom of the bilboard.
