Previously, I've written about some of the worrisome associations of leading presidential candidate, Barack Obama, including one with Rashid Khalidi who in 1986 dedicated his book , Under Siege: P.L.O. Decision-Making During the 1982 War, to Yasser Arafat, according to the linked source. Khalidi now heads the Middle East Studies Department at Columbia. Go figure.
In an article last April in the LA Times, we learn there is a video tape of Barack Obama attending and toasting the former alleged PLO operative at a going-away dinner in 2003. This video is being held, or should we say withheld, by the L.A. Times. I actually overlooked this statement in the article in an earlier post linked above but thanks to the astute work of Gateway Pundit this information is now being fully exposed.
Little Green Footballs also informs us William Ayers and his wife and fellow domestic terrorist were in attendance at this dinner, as well. Gee, do you think they may have sat at the same table?
LGF is urging everyone to contact the LA Times and demand politely the video be released for public viewing.

Update 10/28/08 1 PM: Author of The Audacity of Deceit: Barack Obama's War on American Values Brad O'Leary.
"...For example, in 2001 and 2002, when Obama was director of the Woods Fund board, he funneled $75,000 to the Arab American Action Network. This is an anti-Israel outfit run by his good friend Mona Khalidi, whose husband is Rashid Khalidi...Khalidi has even referred to Israel as a racist state. Now, if Obama has such a strong commitment to Israel, why just six years ago was he lining the pockets of an anti-Israel group?..."
interview here.
Also review, Mideast Parley Takes Ugly Turn At Columbia U. 2005 New York Sun article
"...In Chicago, the Khalidis founded the Arab American Action Network (AAAN), and Mona Khalidi served as its president. A big farewell dinner was held in their honor by AAAN with a commemorative book filled with testimonials from their friends and political allies. These included the left wing anti-war group Not In My Name, the Electronic Intifada, and the ex-Weatherman domestic terrorists Bernadine Dohrn and Bill Ayers. (There were also testimonials from then-state Senator Barack Obama and the mayor of Chicago.)..."
Discover the Net page on AAAN has some very interesting information.
And you should know that the Arab American Action Network has blocked the ability to archive their website, which is worrisome.
Update 10/28/08 6:50 PM: John McCain demands LA Times release tape:
"A major news organization is intentionally suppressing information that could provide a clearer link between Barack Obama and Rashid Khalidi," said McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb, citing Obama's friendship with Khalidi, who is now a professor at Columbia University.
UPDATE 10/30/08 7:53 AM: Several well-known blogs are carrying what appears to be excerpts from the video posted by Doug Ross, who got an e-mail from a reliable source (in the past) who claims to have seen the video.
I look at it this way, if this is NOT true then the L.A. Times should release the tape to prove them wrong. If it is true, they will not release it and will keep stonewalling. Take it with a grain of salt:
"Saw a clip from the tape. Reason we can't release it is because statements Obama said to rile audience up during toast. He congratulates Khalidi for his work saying "Israel has no God-given right to occupy Palestine" plus there's been "genocide against the Palestinian people by Israelis."
It would be really controversial if it got out. That's why they will not even let a transcript get out."
Washington Times: 2004 Arafat minion as professor
"Rashid Khalidi, the Edward Said professor of Arab studies at Columbia University, has gained notice for his extremist views on Israel, including recent profiles in both the New York Times and The Washington Post. That extremism comes out when he calls Israel an "apartheid system in creation" and a "racist state" that "brainwashed" Americans do not understand. Jerusalem, with its Jewish majority since the 1880s, he deems "an Arab city" whose control by Israeli "foreigners" is "unacceptable." And so on...
...According to Thomas L. Friedman of the New York Times, writing on June 9, 1982, Mr. Khalidi was at that time "a director of the Palestinian press agency." That would be Wikalat al-Anba al-Filastinija, or WAFA, the PLO press agency, where Mr. Khalidi's wife, Mona, was chief English-language editor in 1976-82. Mr. Friedman quotes Mr. Khalidi in his official capacity saying that the Israelis are out to "crush the P.L.O."
Update 11/2/08: Newsclippingfrom 1976, 1978 and 1982 show Khalidi was a spokesman for the PLO. See the right side for the three clips.
