The 10th Circuit Court in Denver, Colorado today upheld an injunction against the implementation of Oklahoma SQ 755, a constitutional amendment that instructed judges not to consider foreign laws in making their decisions, it included sharia law, I believe, in that it is the ruling order used in a number of Islamic countries and is the basis for their laws. The amendment passed overwhelmingly in the fall of 2010. The amendment reads, in part:
“The courts shall not look to the legal precepts of other nations or cultures. Specifically, the courts shall not consider international law or Sharia law.”
CAIR Oklahoma claims in their "Understanding Sharia" brochure that it, "sharia," has historically been allowed in American courts. If this is true, it's news to me! I'd like to see a listing of the court cases where this happened, wouldn't you?
For clarification, as I understand it, sharia is religious guidance for Muslims while sharia law is Islamic jurisprudence.
Good news! A coalition of Muslim organizations and their leaders in North America issued a press release in support of Michigan's foreign law bill that was introduced this year.
Here's an excerpt from the American Islamic Leadership Coalition:
"A coalition of diverse American Muslim leaders has announced support for a proposed bill in the Michigan State Assembly, HB 4679, that is intended to bar Michigan courts from enforcing any foreign law, if doing so violates any rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and/or the state of Michigan’s constitution.
Like many Americans, members of the American Islamic Leadership Coalition (AILC) have been observing the efforts of a growing number of state legislatures, which are seeking to address the incompatibility of various shari‘ah court systems around the world with the principles and foundations of our Constitutional republic and its laws. As American Muslims, we believe that the law should treat people of all faiths equally, while protecting Muslims and non-Muslims alike from extremist attempts to use the legal instrument of shari‘ah (also known as Islamic jurisprudence, or fiqh) to incubate, within the West, a highly politicized and dangerous understanding of Islam that is generally known as “Islamism,” or “radical Islam...”
Muneer Awad, the Oklahoma director of CAIR, said a few days ago at a Ramadan gathering in Ohio that an Oklahoma constitution amendment, SQ 755, that passed in the fall of 2010 made "Islam the target."
A couple of researchers in Australia say sharia law is practiced in the shadows there. I think we would be naive to think its not happening here, too, to some degree.
Mitt Romney has been praised by some Muslims and those on the far left after he said the following about sharia law in America during CNN's GOP debate Monday night:
"Well, first of all, of course, we’re not going to have Sharia law applied in U.S. courts. That’s never going to happen. We have a Constitution and we follow the law."
Romney said this after Herman Cain expressed concern about the loyality of some Muslims.
The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils is using the government's renewed zest for muticulturalism as an opportunity to support the acceptance of some sharia law in Australia:
The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, in a submission to a parliamentary inquiry into the government's new multiculturalism policy, argues that Muslims should enjoy "legal pluralism".
In an interview with The Australian, the organisation's president, Ikebal Adam Patel, who wrote the submission, nominated family law and specifically divorce as an area where moderate interpretations of sharia could co-exist within the Australian legal system.
In the submission, the AFIC acknowledges some Muslims believe Islamic law is immutable, regardless of history, time, culture and location.
The AFIC argues this is not the case and sharia can be applied in a way that fits in to Australia and is not extreme.
"This means most of the regulations in Islamic law may be amended, changed, altered, and adapted to social change.
"ONE of the nation's top Muslim leaders, Sheik Mohamadu Nawas Saleem, has supported a plan to introduce sharia law in Australia, saying it could operate in the family law system through a new model of Islamic arbitration..."
Ed Shadid ran for state office in 2010. He apparently sought the endorsement of the Oklahoma Green Party, got it and posed in front of their party sign for a lovely photo (left). He lost the race. Today, he will be sworn in as Oklahoma City's newest councilman after winning this race.
Yesterday, at the State Capital, newly elected Shadid stood with CAIR Oklahoma, Andrew Rice, Imam Imad Enchassi of the Islamic Society of Greater OKC, Nathaniel Bathchelder and a few others at a press conference deriding those who supported an anti-foreign law bill (HB 1552) which died in the Senate Rules Committee last week. Let me repeat, the bill had already died in the senate committee the week before so this press conference was one of those political grand-standing moments.
A disturbing Islamic supremacist march took place on Oxford Street in London. It's a great example of Islamism/political Islam. The video shows the ultimate shariah goal of some Muslims:
Ignorant Oklahomans were told what to think? That's what I got out of a recent sharia law panel moderated by Rev. Bill Crowell of Boston Avenue Methodist Church. Crowell is president of the Board of the Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry, one of the sponsors of the "Islamic Agenda in Oklahoma" PR series. Tulsa Community College was also listed as a sponsor.
Oklahoma HB 1552 passed the State House in a stunning 76-3 vote on March 17th. The bill is authored by Rep Kern and co-authored by Reps. Reynolds and Ritze. State Senator Anthony Sykes is listed as the author in the Senate. The purpose of the bill is to protect citizens from the enforcement of any judicial ruling that could favor limits on the fudamental rights of citizens. Representatives Mike Shelton, Cory Williams, and Emily Virgin were the state reps who voted against it.
Earlier this month, Florida Judge Richard A. Neilson ruled a civil dispute over a mosque at the Islamic Education Center of Tampa brought on by several of its trustees would proceed “under Ecclesiastical Islamic Law”! First, to have the disputing parties try to settle it among themselves, then within the Muslim community then, if still not settled, before an Islamic judge which, in my opinion, prevents the parties from seeking legal remedies from the larger community of legal recourse available to all other Americans. The order was a response to the plantiff's emergency motion to enforce an arbitrator's award. It appears to me, and I'm not an attorney, if Muslims in Florida enter a arbitration agreement using Islamic law they lock themselves into a narrow framwork that will likely upheld by the Florida court.
I came across a website this week called Islamopedia. It features fatwas or religious rulings of leading Islamic religous leaders, along with news and analysis. Their about page says it is institutionally supported by the Islamic Legal Studies Program at Harvard University and Johns Hopkins University among others organization listed. This support is shocking considering what's on this website.
These universities are helping a sheik strongly associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, who is banned from the U.S., gain more legitimacy it seems to me! If you don't think Islamists have infiltrated our universities - well - I've got some swamp land in Florida to sell you.
Last fall Oklahoma was the first state to ban foreign and/or sharia law from consideration in state courts. The director of CAIR Oklahoma, Muneer Awad, then sued the state and the certification of the vote was temporarily stopped by a judge appointed by President Clinton. The State Election Board advised the court they will appeal the ruling.
Below are the other states who have bills pending:
Ingrid Mattson is the immediate past president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and a current member of their executive council. She will be speaking this Sunday in Tulsa at an "interfaith meeting" at the Grace Lutheran Church headed by Rev. Mason Beecroft about Islamic law:
Texas Representative Leo Berman proposed yesterday a constitutional amendment that could go before the voters that would prohibit any state court from enforcing, considering, or applying a religious or cultural law.
On Thursday, CAIR refused an invitation from the Bill O'Reilly show to discuss Asia Bibi, a Christian woman charged with blasphemy under sharia law in Pakistan. CAIR's refusal is in line with their practice to only discuss Islam in a positive manner, which -- surprisesurprise-- is in compliance with sharia law where nothing negative is dared uttered about Islam, Islamism or sharia! Bibi could face death for defending her faith. Under sharia law/rule, Islam is placed above criticism and above all other religions, as stated in verse 9:33. Muslims believe each verse in the Quran is the exact word of Allah.
The fairly new Islamic Council of Oklahoma that is dominated by CAIR Oklahoma Board members issued a press release on November 29th thanking Muneer Awad and CAIR for suing the state of Oklahoma to defend their right to use sharia law. They sure don't seem to want to pass up any opportunity to call supporters of SQ 755 names.
On January 10th, Oklahoma's newly elected attorney general, Scott Pruitt, will inherit the legal fight to get SQ 755 certified. He'll surely be more aggresive than current AG, Drew Edmondson (D), who has been criticized how he defended the amendment to ban foreign law, including sharia law:
James Werrell is the opinion editor for the The Rock Hill Herald who wrote on November 23rd an article which was a veiled swipe at Oklahoma's SQ 755, which bans foreign and sharia laws from being considered by state judges, in Commentary: The 'Islamish invasion' has already started, published in the Bellingham Heard in Washington.
Yesterday, the Oklahoma Attorney General's office filed a notice of appeal to the preliminary injunction that stops the certification of the vote for SQ 755 that was issued Monday by Federal Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange.
Federal Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange took the side of CAIR Oklahoma's director Muneer Awad this afternoon agreeing that his 1st amendment right would be violated if the state banned sharia law from consideration in state courts. She granted him a preliminary injunction which will prevent the Oklahoma Election Board from certifying SQ 755 which passed with 70% of the votes, until the court rules on its legal merits, which could take a few months.
A Minnesota Appeals Court ruled Tuesday an euphoric-producing plant called"khat" is illegal and doesn't violate religious freedom which several Muslims prosecuted for using it claimed. An advocate said these men might now be ripe for terror recruiting:
Moments ago in Oklahoma City, Federal Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange extended her Temporary Restraining Order by one week on the certification of the vote on Oklahoma SQ 755 that took place on November 2nd.
Chuck Guzak blamed the right wing in Oklahoma for the passing of SQ 755 and fueling Islamophobia in his opinion article, Who's Afraid of Big-Bad Sharia in the Cornell Daily Sun today. He argued that allowing Sharia courts in the U.S. would change nothing here.
Attorney Kevin Calvey filed an Amicus Curiae brief for The United States Border Control, the United States Border Control Foundation, the Lincoln Institute for Research and Education and the Conservative Legal Defense and Education Fund in Oklahoma in federal court yesterday regarding SQ 755.
There's a fairly new website called Ikhwanophobia setup to expose those horrible people they claim have an irrational fear of members of the Islamic supremacist Muslim Brotherhood and, of course, for good measure they extended that fear to all Muslims. This Islamist website claims, among other things on their about page, that "Intimidation of the Muslim Brotherhood, of course, leads to many negative consequences that are contrary to basic human rights."
As you can see Muneer Awad of CAIR Oklahoma is featured on their home page today (screen shot taken 11/15/10). Standing next to him in support is Nathaniel Batchelder, the Director of the Peace House in Oklahoma City:
A link to Ikhwanophobia can be found on the official Muslim Brotherhood English language website (screen shot taken 11/15/2010):
CAIR was started by leaders of the Islamic Association of Palestine, an overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Muneer Awad, who has been on the job at CAIR Oklahoma for less than a month and who just graduated from law school last year, said sharia law is merely a religious guide and a religious freedom right. Is that accurate? To me, religious guidance is not the same thing as religious rulings/sharia law. I am unaware the U.S. has legally defined it, yet. Many Islamic countries use sharia as the basis for all their laws, which includes the loss of religious freedom, an irony worth noting.
Last night the new director of CAIR's chapter in Oklahoma, Muneer Awad, was on the low-rated leftist Rachael Maddow's show where he ripped Oklahoma politicians who authored or supported SQ 755 and claimed their campaign was one of misinformation designed to raise fear and disrespect of Muslims. Before Maddow interviewed Awad she went over some of the hate mail CAIR claimed they received (how stupid can one be?). Near the end of the video Awad said the campaign to pass SQ 755 was based on hate, VIOLENCE and fear.
One of the authors of Oklahoma SQ 755, Rep. Anthony Sykes, was quoted by Fox News today making an astonishing claim that Attorney General Drew Edmonston (D) did NOT file a brief to defend the people's vote in court today:
"District Court Judge Vicki Miles-LeGrange ruled that the measure, which passed by a large margin in last Tuesday's elections, would be suspended until a hearing on Nov. 22, when she will listen to arguments on whether the court's temporary injunction should become permanent.
...Supporters of the Oklahoma ballot initiative, which passed with 70 percent of the vote, would not comment on the impact of the ruling. But state Sen. Anthony Sykes, who co-authored the measure, charged that the judge ruled as she did because the state’s attorney general, Drew Edmondson, failed to respond to the suit.
“The attorney general failed to file a response,” Sykes said. “I am afraid that this might get written in stone that shouldn’t be because the attorney general is leaving and a new one is coming in.”
Calls to Edmondson’s office were not returned.
Oklahoma state Rep. Rex Duncan, who co-sponsored the bill, said he hadn’t seen the judge's written ruling yet, but he was disappointed that “her words from the bench indicated she had completely embraced the plaintiff’s arguments.”
“They were pretty extraordinary statements from the judge,” he said.
Duncan and Sykes both said the state should have challenged whether Awad had the standing to bring the case.
“As far as we know, he flew into here from Georgia just to make the case," Duncan said. "We don’t think he is an Oklahoma resident or plans to stay. We don’t think he had standing...”
An Assistant Attorney General in Edmondson's office, William F. O'Brien, has written numerous opinion articles shilling for CAIR and promoting Islam since 2008.
The Honorable Vicki Miles-LaGrange was appointed by President Clinton.
ACTION: I encourage people to flood his office with calls expressing concern that he did not file a response/brief on the voters behalf on SQ 755 yesterday. OKC 405-521-3921 | Tulsa 918-581-2885
Today federal judge, Vicki Miles-LaGrange, who was appointed by President Clinton, approved a temporary 14 day hold on the certification of the overwhelming vote of the citizens of Oklahoma to amend the state's constitution to ban sharia and international law from consideration in state courts. Note, this amends the constitution so that state courts do not use or consider foreign law.
A hearing is planned for November 22nd at 10 AM where arguments for both sides will be heard.
Update 6:00 PM CT: From KOCO Oklahoma City: "...Islamic leader, Imam Imad Enchassi said the passing of SQ 755 would impose on his civil liberties as an American and damage the character of Muslims.
"I've been called to court many times on Middle Eastern and Islamic ways and Islamic codes and ethics and so on and so fourth. Now, a judge might look at the law and say you know what, we'll take the rabbi testimony, we'll take the preacher testimony, but your testimony is null and void just because you're Muslim," he said.
Enchassi said it is disturbing that lawmakers aren't condemning the state question.Islamic leader, Imam Imad Enchassi said the passing of SQ 755 would impose on his civil liberties as an American and damage the character of Muslims..."
Is that right Imam Enchassi? Can you name some cases?
Today, in little over an hour, the brand new director (<month) of CAIR Oklahoma, Muneer Awad, will be in federal court in Oklahoma City to legally challenge the will of the people of Oklahoma after they passed SQ 755 on November 2nd to ban sharia and international law from consideration by state courts in the future. The suit wants to stop the election board from certifying the results. It will be heard before a judge appointed by President Clinton, the Honorable Vicki Miles-LaGrange. Last year, Judge Miles-LaGrange gave a commencement speech titled "Idealism" to the graduating students at Oklahoma City University School of Law.
Muneer Awad, apparently, recently moved to Oklahoma to assume his position at CAIR but he sued the state as an individual.
Yesterday, Awad was interviewed on New York City's WABC 770 AM. Near the end he gets agitated when questioned about some of the facts that haunt CAIR. Listen to his interview at CAIR's Shariah defender dodges questions on terror ties. The really interesting stuff starts at the 9:50 minute mark.
Awad dodged facts about CAIR similar to his predecessor, Razi Hashmi, who did it over and over again.
I do believe Awad imply the interviewer was a liar.
Routes is an college magazine that showcases work of college students relating to issues about Oklahoma run by the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma.
I was completely taken aback to see their front page and cultural section mainly devoted to Islam or Muslim victimhood. This includes a slide show of pictures where one featured a photo of a larger Quran next to a smaller Bible, pictured above.
Some of Routes latest articles presented a peaches and cream positive image of Islam, or of their victimhood. All ignored a move by Muslims leaders in Oklahoma to hookup with one of the most controversial Islamist organizations in the country, CAIR, which was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest Hamas terror-funding trial in U.S. history.
Their new director in Oklahoma sued the state this week to stop the will of the people in their historic vote to ban sharia law from being used in state court. One of their article features Saad Mohammed, one of the two co-founders of CAIR Oklahoma but they didn't mention this at all. Last summer, CAIR Oklahoma's board chair, Michael Aziz Gipson was charged with mortgage fraud and conspiracy.
The American Islamic Forum on Democracy has issued a press release praising Oklahomans for passing SQ 755, which bans sharia and international law from consideration in state court:
Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, a devout Muslim and the president and founder of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD) issued the following statement regarding the passage of Oklahoma's State Question 755.
"As Muslims dedicated to modernity, reform and our one law system in the west and in the United States, AIFD applauds the people of Oklahoma for passing State Question 755 and making "the legal precepts of other nations or cultures" off-limits to Oklahoma courts and specifically denying the use of Sharia Law.
The issue is simple. As Americans we believe in the Constitution, the Establishment Clause, and our one law system. SQ755 reaffirms the First amendment to the Constitution and prevents the Establishment or empowerment of a foreign legal system like the specific shariah legal systems implemented in many Muslim majority nations and in western shariah courts seen in places like Britain.
By filing a lawsuit, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has wasted no time in proving once again that they are unable to stand behind public declarations that the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights and our one law system supersede and are preferable to a sharia law system. They are using the American cover of religious freedom to try and knock down a simple law that prohibits the domination of one religion over others
...To those who say "Why Oklahoma?", we say "Why not Oklahoma?" The Oklahoma precedent and example is important. It has already showed CAIR's hand and where they place shariah law in relation to the Constitution. CAIR flippantly states that the law is not necessary. By implying that Islam and shariah are inseparable they demonstrate a willful denial of the internationally pervasive draconian shariah law systems around the world in places like Iran, Sudan, Saudi Arabia to name a few, and how academically clear the legal system of shariah law is. Note should be made of how CAIR's response to SQ755 does not address any of the harms instituted against Muslims and non-Muslims around the world in the name of shariah law.
AIFD and most reformist Muslims believe a ban on shariah courts is necessary to protect the rights of the individual and in particular the rights of women.."
Thank you Dr. Jasser from the bottom of this Okie's heart and the 70% of us voted to take a stand against Islamism.
What is Shariah? Shariah is a dynamic legal framework derived from the Quran (Islam’s revealed text), the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad, the ongoing consensus of Islamic scholars, and analytical reasoning. ---CAIR
Below is a copy of the lawsuit filed today in Federal Court against the Oklahoma Election Board regarding a constitutional amendment passed by 70% of Oklahomans to not allow state courts to consider sharia or international law in the decades to come. The individual suing is Muneer Awad the new director of CAIR Oklahoma. He just recently moved to Oklahoma to assume the position. Now he, and he alone, wants to stop the election board from certifying the election result for SQ 755.
"...At a news conference today in the State Capitol Building, CAIR-OK Executive Director Muneer Awad said he has filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court -- Western District Of Oklahoma as an individual seeking a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction to prevent final certification of the amendment by the Oklahoma State Board of Elections.
Awad's lawsuit, which is based on his own Shariah-compliant will, says SQ 755 violates the First Amendment's Establishment Clause that bars government bodies from making laws "respecting the establishment of religion."
Click here for an audio of the press conference CAIR Oklahoma held with their left-wing partners in Oklahoma city yesterday found at Oklahomacitizen. Imam Enchassi stated he uses sharia law everyday. Today we learn, for sure, that CAIR see sharia law as completely intertwined with Islam. This is Islamism to me. Throughout the press conference you hear the Muslim victim-mentality and the name-calling rhetoric continue.
Many would argue that Sharia law and/or Islamic supremacy is a rising threat to democracies throughout the world. CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest Hamas terror-funding case in U.S. history and was founded by leaders of the Islamic Association of Palestine, an overt arm of the Islamic supremacist Mulsim Brotherhood.
Last night, News Channel KFOR (4) in Oklahoma City reported more about a possible lawsuit against - well - the majority of Oklahomans who voted to amend their state's constitution to ban sharia and interntaional law from consideration in court cases on November 2nd.
Although CAIR and other Muslims claim sharia law is impossible here they have found it necessary to try to prevent it from being prevented with a lawsuit. So, you really have to ask yourself why. Are they saying Islam and Sharia law are one and the same?
KFOR Video:
Did I mention Imam Imad Enchassi in Oklahoma City posted part of verse from the Quran on Facebook yesterday which could be considered an incitement for Muslims to fight? I don't know what his intent was but it was a provacative verse to use, to say the least. See my previous post for more details.
On November 2nd, 70% of Oklahomans who voted decided overwhelmingly to amend the state constitution to ban judges from considering or using sharia or international law when deciding cases. Politico quickly reported "Muslims leaders" in Oklahoma intended to fight this in court.
John O’Reilly, the Mayor of Dearborn Michigan was on CNN last to refute (CNN video) Republican Senate Candidate Sharon Angle allegations about Sharia law. She singled out Dearborn and Frankfort, Texas.
Mayor O'Reilly flatly denied Sharia law was in Dearborn and even said - are you ready for this - that there was hardly any sharia law in the Middle East! Well, that's definitely not what the State Department Religious Freedom reports states about a number of Islamic countries, whose constitution often states Islamic law is the source of its legislation.
O'Reilly said Sharia law isn't even talked about in Dearborn.
It's not even discussed?
I did a google search "Islamic law in Michigan" and "sharia law Dearborn" here's what I found after spending about 30 minutes looking:
Professor Sherman ‘Abd al-Hakim’ Jackson from University of Michigan expands on the debate surrounding sharia law in the West: Sharia law Theocracy or Democracy?
Update 11/02/10 8:41 PM CT: 70% voted yes to ban sharia & International law
Liberals in Oklahoma and their Islamist partners, like CAIR Oklahoma, often call those of us who are in favor of SQ 755, which is an amendment to ban sharia and international law from being considered in our states courts, Intolerant, ignorant, bigots, fear-mongers, paranoid schizophrenics, "born-again" bigots, intolerant, hateful, anti-Islamic, McCarthy-like, xenophobics, Islamophobics and, of course, anti-Muslim. Their verbal smear tactics are nothing but red flags waving widely in our faces. Do you feel all that hot air trying to seal your mouth shut? Let's fact it, being able to explain one's objections against this measure in an intelligent, logical and meaningful ways without casting dispersions on others is the right way to defend a position. I'm thinking when Oklahomans are called these names over SQ 755, it will increase the votes for it.
The Library of Congress, which is the research arm of Congress, has a rather large collection of books about Sharia law that have been published in English since the horrific attack against America on 911.
A demonstration for Sharia law in the UK on June 21st should be a vivid and disturbing reminder what we will likely face as a nation in the future. It's pretty clear a good number of Muslim youths there are being taught radical Islam. The good news here is there were moderate Muslims who opposed it but their voices were drowned out:
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf(Imam Feisal or Imam Abdul-Rauf) is the leader of the proposed $100 million 13 story mosque and community center which will be just two blocks from the site of the World Trade Center attack. He is the Chairman and founder of the Cordoba Initiative which receives some of its funding from the Malaysian government. The new gz mosque and center planned will be called the Cordoba House. Cordova, Spain was a center of Islamic conquest and caliphate rule that lasted several hundred of years that took place over a 1,000 years ago, by the way. So, Is the name just coincidental? I highly doubt it - but who knows.
It appears from a New York Post article, and others sources, there's plenty of information about Feisal that you need to know and which the main stream media will probably not tell you.
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is a key figure in Malaysian-based Perdana Global Peace Organization, according to its Website (z: see their about page and here)
Perdana is the single biggest donor ($366,000) so far to the Free Gaza Movement, a key organizer of the six-ship flotilla that tried to break Israel's blockade of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip Monday.
...“We have two Imam Raufs," Deborah Burlingame, the sister of the American Airlines pilot whose hijacked plane struck the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, told the New York Post. "We have the anti-Israel, anti-democratic imam, and we have the smiling, soft-spoken moderate Muslim who says, 'Why can't we all get along?'... "
Hummm... Is it possible Perdana is pro Hamas?
Rauf said in 2003 "And we believe that 100 years more of targeted assassinations will never dry up the reservoir of young Palestinians willing to give up their lives." He then stated in 2004 that the U.S. and the West "must acknowledge the harm they have done to Muslims before terrorism can end" and that it was Christians who started mass attacks on civilians. He also said there was an endless supply of angry young Muslims ready to martyr themselves and there was no sign of the attacks ending unless there was a fundamental change in the world. Well, that doesn't seem too peaceful to me. In fact, it's the typical talk of an Islamist.
He said to PBS; "So any law, anything studied in the Quran or the hadith, is definitely [Sharia],' and "what really defines Islamic law [is] the sum total of Islamic law as has been practiced by Muslims throughout the last 14, 15 centuries." In another PBS interview he shilled again for Sharia by claiming people often think of few penalties for certain crimes (z: those that are gruesome) and fail to consider the sum total of Islamic law. Not too comforting.
Critics claim Feisal's father, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rauf, was a leader in the Islamic supremacist Muslim Brotherhood. Dr. Rauf was born in Egypt and moved to Kuwait where Imam Feisal was born and then he came to America where he was involved in the building of the Islamic Cultural Center on the Upper East Side, according to a 1984 New York Times article which reported "plans for the center were first announced in the mid-1960's after organization efforts by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Libya." Imam Feisal, his son, is a permanent trustee of the Center.
On a 60 Minutes program which aired on 9/30/2001, shortly after the 9/11 attacks, Imam Feisal said "I wouldn't say that the United States deserved what happened," -- "but United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened." Rauf further stated, “because we [Americans] have been accessory to a lot of innocent lives dying in the world,” it could be said that “[i]n fact, in the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden is made in the USA.” Watch the September 30, 2001 segment at the 8:09 minute mark, but I recommend you watch the entire 15 minute video).
In October 2001, Rauf praisedSheik Yusef Qaradawi as "probably the most well-known legal authority in the whole Muslim world today." One major problem here, he is the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and is banned from the U.S. for his fatwas approving of martyrdom against Israel!
On May 20th, just a couple weeks ago, New York Councilman Robert Jackson, Councilwoman Margaret Chin, State Sen. Daniel Squadron, City Comptroller John Liu and Borough President Scott Stringer actually stood with Imam Feisal against a tea party leader who opposed the mosque which he described with poorly chosen words, for which he later apologized. State Sen. Daniel Squadron, City Councilwoman Margaret Chin and Councilman Robert Jackson, the Council’s sole Muslim, all spoke in favor of the plans.
There's strong and growing opposition to the Ground Zero mosque, including concerns expressed by my favorite Muslim, Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, who is head of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy here and here.
2006 August: The Shariah Project – Initial Meeting in Kuala Lumpur Convened in Malaysia by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the Shariah Project’s initial meeting assembled five distinguished scholars of Islamic holy law from four countries. In addition to Imam Feisal, the group included: Professor Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Ghazi, Pakistan (Chairman of the Shariah Board for the State Bank of Pakistan and former president of International Islamic University); Professor Dr. Mohammad Hashim Kamali, Malaysia (Dean of the International Institute of Islamic Thought & Civilization and Former Interim Chairman, Constitutional Review Committee, Afghanistan); Professor Dr. Tahir Mahmood, India (Founder/Chairman, Amity University Institute for Advanced Legal Studies, New Delhi, and former Dean of the Faculty of Law, Delhi University); Dato’ Abdul Hamid Mohamad, Malaysia (Judge, Federal Court of Malaysia … Malaysian Supreme Court). The Shariah Project is sponsored by the ASMA Society in cooperation with the Cordoba Initiative.

CAIR, an organization formed by the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas infrastructure here, has issued a third press release about Rev. Franklin Graham and the National Day of Prayer. The first two were related to his honorary chairmanship of the Pentagon's National Day of Prayer event where he was to speak. After Military Religious Freedom Foundation issued a demand letter and CAIR issued an Action Alert to disinvite him, Graham was uninvited.
Yesterday, CAIR started a new effort to get Rev. Graham disinvited from speaking at Capitol Hill's National Day of Prayer for committing the sin of criticizing Islam which is forbidden to do under Islamic law.
We cannot allow Islamic law to dictate how we can speak in America!
Not only should we be outraged, but we should take action. Call Congress and express your concern how a highly controversial Islamic organization wants to impose their will on free speech! Demand Rev. Graham be allowed to speak at the Capitol Hill's National Day of Prayer event.
Call the Capitol Hill switchboard (202) 224-3121 and ask to speak to your representative and/or Senator and express very politely that you stand with Rev. Franklin Graham and his right to speak at their event and are highly concerned that a group like CAIR with its worrisome and documented history is trying to impose its will against Christians.
A new card is being offered to Muslims that complies with Shariah Law! It's really just a cash card you have to pre-load with money.
It will also cost users .95 cens each time they add money and a fee of $50 ever two years for the privilege of using the card. According the to article, "The card, which is primarily aimed at younger newcomers, was launched at the inaugural conference of the Usury-Free Association of North America in downtown Toronto".
