OETA, the public TV station in Oklahoma, aired a 30 minute program today concentrating primarily on the recently released DHS report on rightwing extremism. Both guests, David Cid who is the Interim Director of the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT) in Oklahoma City and Kerry Pettingill the Director of the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security agreed with the DHS report. The political bent of the program was apparent and not supported by the latest FBI terrorism report. Their innuendos were clear.
The host of the show referenced a recent report by MIPT that stated Oklahoma is one of the three hotspots in the country for rightwing extremist activism. He then mentioned that the Southern Poverty Law Center identified 19 groups in the state. But he forgot to mention not all the groups identified were rightwing. Unfortunately, the MIPT report is not linked at the OETA website about the program nor could I find it on the MIPT website, or by google search.
